Black Bass Magazines

I've listed all the Bass magazines I know about except for those on my other pages. Your can check those on the B.A.S.S. Federations, and Japan pages - or under Italy, Portugal, and South Africa on the Europe and Africa page. If you know of a Bass magazine I missed or that one of these is no longer published please tell me about it. New magazines come and go so quickly that it is difficult to keep up with them. I've added links to those I know have a web site. I used to subscribe to every Bass magazine I could find, now I’ve let all but a couple expire so many of these entries haven’t been updated since 2004.

In Books of the Black Bass there is a large section on Black Bass magazines which includes some history on Bass magazines that are no longer published. If you are interested in information on those older magazines e-mail me your address and I'll print out a copy and mail it to you. Advanced Bass Strategies - a magazine published by Harris Publications, Inc. NYC. Premier Edition was dated March 1994 and their were two others in 1994, May and July/August. With the 1995 edition the magazine was changed to an annual. Changed to a seven issue series in 1998, Advanced Fishing Strategies. I don’t have a list of the different issues but #6 & #7 are both Bass Strategies; others include Fishing Strategies; Catfish Strategies; Crappie Strategies; and Walleye Strategies. In 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004 & 2005, they went back to two issues of the magazine and only one of them is a Bass issue. For some reason I missed the 2003, maybe it didn’t make it to the stores in my area. On newsstands.

American Bass Fishing News a monthly tabloid sized magazine published by American Bass, 402 N. Prospect Ave, Redondo Beach CA 90277. AMERICAN BASS FISHING NEWS

American Bass News - a bi-monthly magazine published by American Bass Association, 2810 Trotters Trail, Wetumptka AL 36092.

Anglers Choice - a bi-monthly magazine published by Angler's Choice, 5465 Acton Highway, Granbury TX 76049.

Angler's Quest Rick Clunn's quarterly magazine that began with the Spring 1996 issue. Montgomery TX. There were only four published and they are still available today as a fishing course. Angler's Quest, RR 5, Box 772, AVA, MO 65608.

AnglerSport - a bi-monthly magazine published by AnglerSport, P.O. Box 1040, Orange Beach, AL 36561. Also see Bass Champion

Association of Tournament Anglers - a quarterly newsletter was to be published by Assn. Of Tournament Anglers, 1824 6th St, Bethlehem PA 18020. Not seen yet.

Arizona hunter & angler a monthly magazine published by All Star Bass Fishing Tournaments, Inc., 2825 So. 46th St., Phoenix AZ 85040.

Bass Anglers Guide – PO Box 27274, Concord CA. Published by Mark Lassagne who told me “I have been publishing the book since 1991 however from 1991 to 2003 it was in a calendar format and more of a scheduling device for tournament anglers. Then in 2000 I started adding small articles from anglers and the demand for this grew and in 2004 I turned it into a magazine to allow for the extra content. The name started as the Gone Fishing Calendar, then Bass Tournament Calendar and in 2001, Bass Anglers Guide.” The 2007 issue is a full color slick magazine with a pullout Bass Tournament Calender for 2007. Changed to quarterly in 2008. BASS ANGLERS GUIDE

Bass Castin' magazine - scheduled to be published in1999 but so far as I've been able to determined the first issue is yet to come. Bass Castin' Tournament Series, R.R. #2, Box 119, Odon IN 47562.

Bass Champion News a monthly magazine published by AnglerSport, Inc., P.O. Box 1040, Orange Beach, AL 36561. Also see Bass Champion News

Bass Club Digest The Voice of Bass Clubs Across the Nation. 1800 Westlake Ave. Suite 206, Seattle WA 98109. Started in 1993 as an Annual and in 1999 changed to two issues per year, January and March. Evidently they have gone back to one issue per year. On newsstands. BASS CLUB DIGEST

Bass Fan Mag - 2006 Premier collector’s Issue, BassFan LLC. Portland OR. A magazine devoted to tournament pros and Bass tournaments. The first magazine published by the web site BassFan.com. Will there be more?

Bass Fishing Techniques The official publication of the B.A.S.S. Fishing Techniques Educational Program. Published by B.A.S.S., Montgomery AL. An annual that has been on newsstands since 1997. BASSMASTER

Bass Guide an annual published by In-Fisherman since 1997. I was told there would be no 2000 issue, but Surprise - Surprise one showed up on the newsstands and it is still around in 2006. IN-FISHERMAN GUIDES

Bass Info Magazine, PO Box 26187, Birmingham AL 35226-6187. A magazine published eleven times a year for tournament anglers.

Bass Notes - a quarterly newsletter published by The International Federation of Black Bass Anglers, PO Box 270267, Kansas City MO 64127.

Bass Times - A tabloid size, newsprint magazine published monthly by Bass Anglers Sportsman Society. PO Box 17116, Montgomery, Alabama 36141.

Bass & Walleye Boats - A magazine published 8 times a year by Poole Publication, Inc., PO Box 545, Mt Morris IL 61054-7561.

Bass West - published 6 times a year by Bass West, 350 East Center St., #201, Provo UT 84606. BASS WEST This magazine was inconsistent in 1999 but in 2000 they seem to be back on track. In May 2000, they announced new ownership and promised to not only be more consistent but to improve the magazine.

Bass World Sports a quarterly magazine published by Bass World Sports, 3126 W. Clay, St. Charles MO 63301. This is a team tournament organization in the Midwest. I talked to Ryan Horrell and he told me the organization had been around for about twenty years. Sure enough he sent me a copy of the magazine and it is Vol. 20, No 1, Spring Issue 2006. Bassmaster's Top Bass Destinations - an annual published by Bass Anglers Sportsman Society, Montgomery Alabama. Sold on newsstands

Big Bass -- World Championship Special Issue, an annual published by Bassin', Jenks OK. This one concerns the Big Bass World Championship Tournament conducted by Bassin' magazine. The first issue was published in 2000. On newsstands.

Bronzeback News is a quarterly newsletter published by The Missouri Smallmouth Alliance, P.O. Box 325, St. Louis, Missouri 63088-0325. Established in 1992 they also maintain a Web site. MISSOURI SMALLMOUTH ALLIANCE

Bronzeback News is the newsletter for The Ohio Smallmouth Alliance. These two groups are affiliated with The National Smallmouth Alliance but each issues their own newsletter. OHIO SMALLMOUTH ALLIANCE

National Smallmouth Trail Magazine published bi annually by National Smallmouth Trail, Inc., PO Box 566, Elizabethton TN 37643. NST MAGAZINE

Petersen's Bass Fishing 2000 Annual published by Emac Petersen. Los Angeles CA. Petersen's has published fishing annuals for years but I believe this is their first Bass annual. There was also a 2001 edition titled Bass Fishing Annual published by Emac USA.

Professional Angler, The Sponsorship Newsletter. Published four times a year by Professional Angler, The Sponsorship Newsletter, 205 W. Palizada, San Clemente, CA 92672, (949) 492-5547. 16-page quarterly newsletter, dedicated to helping anglers to more productively manage their sponsorship endeavors and avoid the snags and pitfalls. The last issue of this periodical was 1 January 2000. I'll leave the link here as long as their web site stays on line. PROFESSIONAL ANGLER

Tournament Angler News - a magazine published 8 times a year and listing tournament events throughout the U.S.. Published by Tournament Angler News, PO Box 1989, Lindale TX 75771.

USA Outdoors - a bi-monthly magazine now published by American Bass Anglers, Inc., PO Box 475, Athens AL 35612. In January, 2000, American Bass Anglers acquired the Military Bass Anglers Tournament Trail. Previous owner, Bassing America Corporation, is apparently now being run as a walleye tournament trail.

WON Bass - published by Western Outdoor News, 3197 E Airport Loop Drive, Costa Mesa, California 92629. WON Bass is a monthly supplement in the newspaper Western Outdoor News. WON Bass now has a Web site with limited information. WON BASS
