Ballet Folklorico Boriken's 9th year participation at the 36th Texas Folklife Festival. June 2007, was a huge success.
Master percussionist artists George, Mike, Edwin and Casimiro along with Boriken's professional dance troupe dancers brought an innovative perspective to the program. Our professional group's program was a combination of live performances that highlighted our African heritage. The "bomba" dances were featured with our "barriles de bomba", bomba drums, hand made and acquired from a famous artisan from Puerto Rico. Graciela is one of our newest members who brings her talented voice to authenticate our interpretations of our folk music.
We are Puerto Rico's only representation at the Texas Folklife Festival and are always very proud to represent our island at this statewide Festival.

MISSION STATEMENT
The Ballet Folklorico Boriken is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization incorporated in the State of Texas. Our primary mission is to promote and preserve the Puerto Rican folk dances through participation in cultural events and educational presentations in San Antonio and throughout Texas. We offer regularly scheduled classes for our members and special workshops for anyone interested in learning about Puerto Rico's folkdance heritage.
