BEREAN GRACE CHURCH HOME PAGE-Pastor Steve Ross : People sometimes ask what is a Berean? Here is a short description of
our church.
What is a Berean?
As the apostle Paul traveled in his missionary journeys he went to many
cities. When he preached, he got a mixed response to his message. Paul
traveled to the city of Berea and preached there. The people in Berea
actually looked in the Bible to see if what Paul was saying was true.
Acts 17:11 says, "These (the Bereans) were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so". A Berean is someone who listens to the Bible being preached and then opens their Bible to see if what they heard was true.

Truth For Today- Its Ministry
 
     July 1, 1948 marked the beginning of the ministry of Truth For
Today, Inc.  Mr. Oscar M. Baker, the founding editor, had a deep concern
for neighbors and friends, having been blessed and encouraged in his
studies of the Scriptures by applying the divinely given study principle
of "Right Division", and he desired to share those blessings with others.

Berean Searchlight-
The Berean Searchlight had a humble beginning in the spring of 1940.
Actually, it was an outgrowth of a small church bulletin containing
brief weekly Bible lessons by Pastor Stam.

Almost from the start requests began coming in for additional copies. We
kept mimeographing larger quantities and getting a glimpse of the
widespread hunger for the teaching of the Word, rightly divided.

Soon six men from the congregation offered to help finance a small Bible
study magazine if we would undertake its publication. The Depression was still being keenly felt, but their faith kindled ours and soon we purchased a small press and some printing equipment and got our young men busy printing the first issues of the Berean Searchlight in the church basement: Hampton Auld and Sam Harding in charge! We still think those early copies were handsome! The women helped too-mailing the magazine each month and keeping the address files. That was just about 50 years ago. And so the Berean Searchlight was launched: "A Bible Study Monthly, sent free of charge to anyone anywhere upon request."

The publication of the Berean Searchlight is the largest and most
important function of Berean Bible Society, reaching monthly into every
state of the Union and more than 60 foreign countries.

The Berean Searchlight includes in its mailing lists thousands of
ministers, missionaries and other Christian workers. Also, it is on
display in the libraries of hundreds of Christian Colleges and Bible Institutes.
