Mr.
McDonald----
Thank
you for your fax.
We
will not be able to continue responding to your detailed follow-up
questions to the rather extensive information we have
already provided to you
and your wife.
We
simply do not have the staff capacity to do this.
However, I do not want to discourage your advocacy or your pursuit of concerns
around the Staley agreement. So let me suggest several alternatives.
Under
the Staley agreement we meet periodically with the plaintiffs to review
progress in implementing the agreement. We also issue an annual report
summarizing these actions. Given your belief that the state is not
implementing the agreement as required, I would recomment that you directly
contact Jim Wrigley at the Oregon Advocacy Center
and share your concerns with
him. He is the lead attorney for the plaintiffs.
Secondly,
we regularly meet with the Staley Implementation Group to review
overall policies and review implementation issues or
problems. This group is
broadly representative of consumers, advocates,
brokerages and county
officials. The group is facilitated by Bill Lynch the
Executive Director of
the Developmental Disabilities Council. I would encourage you to share your
concerns with him and this group as well.
Thank
you again for your fax. I hope you find
these suggestions helpful.
