Captain John Ward Veazey - Cecil County Patriot

Captain Jack is named for Captain John Ward Veazey of Cecil County, Maryland.  His activities during the American Revolution were numerous, and 1778 was a particularly eventful year.  He was Justice of the Peace in Cecil County, and that position had been responsible for collecting oaths of fidelity from the citizens of the Sassafras Battalion of the Maryland Militia.  Another commission named him Deputy Comissary of Purchases for Cecil County.

In 1992 the Society researched and wrote a history of Captain Veazey.  Later it was copyrighted and a copy presented to the Maryland State Society, DAR and the Maryland State Archives where much of the research was done on original documents.
