Brand new!!

An all new dachshund web page

Please come by and see my new dachshund page as of August 2002. See wiener dogs hiking at the Pacific ocean, terrorizing small lobsters and plaster deer, moving their home and murdering rats (ugh!). All this and more at Dachshunds Rule!

You can call them dachsies, or doxies or dachshunds or even wiener dogs or hot dogs...but just don't call them late for dinner! Because these little log dogs LOVE to eat!

Wotan, our smooth-coated male dachshund, helps us clean up in the kitchen.

Shakti, our female longhaired dachsie, is kind enough to help us finish up the Ben and Jerry ice cream.

After a tiring hike of over 10 miles on the McKenzie River trail, and one too many beers, Wotan passes out.

Gaudi, our dappled longhaired male dachshund enjoys his soup cans and his Starbucks cups. Little Gaudi is originally from Seattle so he sure does love espresso. Whenever we get any he follows us around licking his lips!

This of course brings to mind the famous Gary Larson cartoon about the dachshund and the espresso machine...and a few other classic Larson wiener dog cartoons(to shorten download time for this page the cartoons are shown in thumbnail graphics which you can click on to view enlarged.)

Here are various funny photos of our dachshunds Wotan and Shakti. Dachshunds are ALWAYS very entertaining!

Sometimes the wieners want to play with the collection of stuffed toys we have up on one of our bookcases. In this photo one of the stuffed toys up there is actually our dachsie Shakti.

As you can see Ms. Shakti is a weight lifter.

We suspect Ms. Shakti used to be a tightrope walker in a former life as she *loves* being up high and walking on narrow high walls such as those found in our backyard, as you can see in this photo. No, we did not place her up there...she walked out on this narrow ledge herself as she often does.

Here's a photo of our weird dachshund Shakti doing something I *still* can't understand. I came outside one day and found that somehow Shakti had managed to leap straight up into our birdbath (which is about 3 feet tall)! I was amazed to find a wiener dog in the birdbath happily drinking away. And even more amazing then her leap perhaps, is the fact that the top of the birdbath is just *resting* on the column...it is not attached. And as you can see Shakti was not in the center either and yet it didn't tip over. She used up one of her 9 lives here!

Here is a nice shot of our dachsie Wotan outside during one of his 30 second fights with a balloon. Wotan always wins these battles...and in record time too.

These three photos were taken years ago when Shakti was still a puppy. She and Wotan often still sleep beside each other.

And sometimes Shakti chooses the STRANGEST places to take a nap,as you can see here with the male human who used to be around.

Wotan can be quite a dachsie comic and mimic.
Here he shows off his impression of Mother Theresa.

Shakti doesn't appear to be a happy wiener dog with this stuffed toy on her head. I suspect she knows it's not a fashion look.

Wotan shows off one of his dozens of high bouncing balls that he is constantly playing with.

And Shakti shows off one of her many broken shower heads that *she* plays with!

In this house stuffed toys are often the subject of fierce duels as these photographs attest to. Sometimes it's Shakti versus Wotan. And sometimes a surprise competitor will surface.

The males sleep away soundly together, their snores and dreams hazily drifting...
