Chris, Mom and Dad

/

Chris was our son.. he was the light of our lives.    From the time he was a baby,

Chris loved life and enjoyed it to the fullest.  He made our world special, just by being in it. .

Chris had many friends, he was loved by so many people, and he was always smiling.

Chris loved sports.  He was on the swim team at the YMCA at five years of age.

He played baseball and football at Cherry Valley and Greenbrook fields in Southaven, MS and

played football for Southaven Jr. High and High School.   He was president of his 1996 senior class,

and a member of the annual staff.   He achieved the "Presidential Physical Fitness Award".

.

. When Chris left his home the night of September 17, 1997;

He told his mother he loved her and that he would return home within the hour.

That hour never came.

.

In a matter of seconds, Chris was robbed of his young life.  Only 17 years old,

he was shot and killed in Memphis, Tennessee by a complete stranger....

A stranger who had no respect for human life or the laws of our land.

A complete stranger who has yet to stand trial

A murderer  who walks our streets today ...

.

Chris is missed so much by everyone that knew him, but someday..

We will all be together again.

We will always love you, Chris ...

The Undefended Victim

"For me, no gavel hammers; the scales were never weighted.

My crime was that of a victim; my life was the price I paid.

And when my life was taken; why weren't my rights read ...

And, the statement, "overruled"; when they pronounced me dead?

I'll never hear my rights; nor take the witness stand,

No attorney to defend me; my fate was in a killer's hand.

But oh, that I could take the stand; if they could witness my last breath,

Could they live with the terror that I went through in death?

If they could hear my pleading cries; and see the hatred in that face,

At last we'd know, the scales had 'been balanced' in this case.

If I could, I'd tell the jury exactly how it was.

The fear and pain that I went through; struck down without a cause..."

Thoughts On A Sunday

If only we could see you,

your brown eyes watching us.

If only we could hear

your voice so soft and clear.

If only we could touch

the skin we loved so much.

But these things will never be,

for you have been taken from us.

Your star is now lit in the sky

to help us make our way by.

For God is saddened too

this was not his plan for you.

It was man who decided your fate

your life on earth he chose to take.

Loved ones, please don't despair

God's love for us is everywhere.

And all His angels in Heaven are singing

their carols to us are bringing

The message that we need never again be apart

if we keep God's love and promises in our hearts.
