Life Net of New York operates rapid response,
medically equipped helicopters transporting critically ill and injured patients
requiring immediate acute care. Staffed by registered nurses and paramedics,
Life Net of New York is an integral part of the prehospital transport
system within eastern New York, western Massachusetts, and southern
Vermont.
Albany Med FLIGHT is operated as a Life Net program
and began serving upstate New York in February of 1996. The program was developed
as a cooperative venture between Albany Medical
Center , the region's Level I Trauma Center and
Rocky Mountain Helicopters , the world's
largest EMS helicopter service provider. In October of 2003, a second helicopter
was placed into service and is currently based in Glen, NY.
