No Stone Unturned Genealogy
Certified American Indian Lineage Specialist Genealogical Services
How can I help connect you to your Indian heritage?
Just need to know where to look? Who to ask?
Can't figure out your next step?
Would you rather let a professional search for you?
Please, allow me to introduce myself.
My name is Lorraine Escobar. The name my tribe gave to me is "Rain
Cloud" which is "Inam Mec" in the Esselen Indian language. True
to my name, I enjoy making connections for people and knowledge of their Indian
ancestors through genealogy. I am a member of the Ohlone/Costanoan Esselen Nation (a
California tribe) and am also the tribal genealogist.
I have been "belly-crawling" through the California Indian records
since 1991 and am now a Certified American Indian Lineage Specialist. I have
worked for California Indian tribes and individuals as well. I have trained
people how to set up their own genealogical libraries and databases and have
performed genealogical services which satisfy the strict genealogical criterion
imposed upon unacknowledged tribes by the US Government in the Federal
Acknowledgment Process.
In my experience, I have developed a large network of resources including a few
of my own. I am unafraid of asking questions and have been known to be fairly
tenacious. I promise to leave no stone unturned. I can teach you how to
research your own family history, develop your own resources, or I can do it
for you. It's all up to you. I am willing to help you in any way you need. My
fees are reasonable and I am willing to negotiate any job, large or small.
Non-Indian research assignments are welcome as well.
Many have asked how long it takes to do this kind of research. There are no pat
answers because each case is different. Click on these two stories for my
typical response. If you'd like to learn more about my work or me, feel free to
browse my other pages listed below.
MY CALIFORNIA CENSUS INDEX BOOKS are
designed to make life easy when searching for your ancestors in the census
records. These books were generated from a computerized database system that I
developed to make life easier for me in all the research I have done in Monterey
County and San Diego County, California. Each one is divided
into three sections - two alphabetized indexes (first name only & surname)
and one for the chronological order of appearance. Each index references the
original page in which the name appeared, and finding the right family grouping
is a breeze. Additionally, I've standardized the names to make the search even
easier. Just click on the link here, Willow Bend Books, to order
these useful books for 1850, 1852, & 1860 Monterey County, California (1852
San Diego County, CA due to come out soon!)
