STRANNY
Scottish Terrier Rescue Association of NNY works with Scottish Terrier Club of America's Rescue Network. NY Contact is Cheryl S. Root, JOYSELLE@aol.com. STRANNY covers Buffalo to Albany, Syracuse to Binghamton. We have placed over 100 scotties in the last eight years. Owner surrender, shelters, animal control..all are our source for scotties who need rescue. 25% of all shelter dogs are purebred. We foster a scottie from a few days to months to assess its needs as to health and social issues and through our applications, we endeavor to find the best home for the rescue scottie. Our volunteers transport, foster, do publicity booths at Scottish games and various pet storre and humane society events. We try to educate shelters, humane societies and the general public with brochures about the characteristics of scotties. Scotties are NOT for everyone.

OUR POLICIES
People who are interested in adopting a scottie must fill out an application, meet with the volunteers and the dog prior to adoption. A home-visit may be required. All dogs must be licensed. We also require that all adopted scotties be always under the new owner's control, on a leash, fenced area or cable tie out. Scotties are concrete blocks, not intended for any swimming. Any children in the family must be familiar with proper treatment of animals. We have a life-time take-back policy. As most rescues come with some kind of "baggage", there can be no guarantees as to their personalities, training, etc. We do our best to place a dog with the "right" new forever home. Our general adoption fee is $250. This covers any spaying or neutering. It also lets us help the next rescue. We pay any adoption fees required by a shelter. Our adoption fee is occasionally waived due to the condition, age of the dog or circumstances of the new owner. Dogs adopted out will be up to date with all shots and vet care.
