LCypher's Home Page

Hi, my name is Lou.  Welcome to my home page.  I'm a full-time Visual FoxPro programmer on a custom application (that's constantly being augmented!) for a company in Kansas City, Kansas, called EPIQ Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ stock symbol EPIQ)  I have been employed there for over six years.  That's longer than my time in the U.S. Marines back in the late 1980's.  I was stationed in Hawaii for most of that tour of duty.  (when I was not spending wintertime in South Korea)  I am a Persian Gulf War veteran, but I have no exciting stories to tell about it, other than that I'm glad I didn't have to actually shoot anyone.  (and that the desert can get COLD at night!)

I started programming computers in my senior year of highschool using dBase III+ and knew right away that I was hooked.  I have been programming computers in one form or another ever since.

I was a part-time student who'd transferred into the University of Missouri - Kansas City (UMKC) back in 2000 after taking a few years off from college.  My school before that was Missouri Western State College (MWSC) in my home town of Saint Joseph, Missouri, which I last attended in 1994.

My Nephew  Here are some pictures of my nephew who was born on Mothers' Day, back in the year 2000.

I wrote a text editor for the data file used in displaying hexagram readings for the old version (1.0) of the I Ching, the Ancient Book of Oracles™ by Talis™.  The latest version of their program has their own built-in editor.  Click on the link below to jump to my Line Editor Download page.  I also have some links to various I Ching related sites on that page.

I was in the U.S. Marines for 1 tour of duty (motivated U.S.M.C. PFC pics) back in '88 through '92.  I was stationed in Hawaii for the last 3 years of that (somebody had to do it, why not me!).  I got to play in the desert of Saudi Arabia in Desert Shield/Desert Storm.  My attitude toward my time in the Marines is "I'm glad I went through all that, but I am much happier to be OUT!"
