Our family name CRUFF originated in America with John who was born abt 1664 in Marblehead, MA.

We have not confirmed where the CRUFF name originated, however, there is a listing of CRUFF's as passengers arriving after the birth of John from England. Also we have found the name CRUFF in England in the 1700's.

There is some thought our name may have been misspelled when the original family arrived in America. Our name has been documented as CROFF/CROFT on some of the births and death records of our ancestors.
