Welcome all Dachshund owners (and their doxies!) Brand new!!
Please come by and see our new all dachsie web page entitled "Adventures with Dachshunds". You'll see photos of German dachshunds we met this year on our trip to the "motherland" as well as the latest Wotan & co. adventures. See them attack balloons and boxes. Marvel at Gaudi's jazz singing. Come see Wotan with a yogurt container stuck on his head...that's a sight that will certain amaze and dazzle you! All this and so much more! Be sure to have your speakers turned on for the whole experience. When Wotan wears this frilled raincoat he reminds me of one of those Australian Frilled Lizards I've seen on nature TV shows. We have actually had car loads of people stop and point and laugh at him when he wears this raincoat.
Wotan sleeps on the beach after a very long Oregon coast beach hike with us.
I draw a large dachshund drawing in the sand yet again to show the world who rules: Dachshunds! Wotan hates water...and yet he is a trooper when we hike as we often take him on trails like this where he must walk through big puddles. Poor boy.Our Ms. Shakti is sometimes a gentle smeller of flowers...and other times a great hunter of rodents in burrows.
Here I am shown posing with Wotan in front of a highly appropriate sign for a hot dog stand. And here are three cute pictures of all three of our dachshunds:
In May of 1998 we spent a month in Austria, Italy and Germany. Here are a few cute postcards with doxies (the Germans call them dackels) on them that I got in Austria:
To formally introduce our three dachshunds to you, here is a posed picture of all of them. On the left is 8 year old Shakti, in the middle is 9 year old Wotan and on the right is 4 year old Gaudi.
It's Party Time!!!
It was my birthday, but the wieners couldn't wait to show off their classy party hats.Often the wiener dogs get a treat from the local Goodwill store. Their humans bring home stuffed toys for them to rip and shred. Here they are, after an hour of pleasure gutting the biggest catch they have ever had. It used to be a huge pink donkey and here it is shown reduced to a room full of plastic pellets torn from its insides.![]()
Wotan loves his many bright plastic multi-sided high-bouncing balls. Here he is showing off just a few of his dozens of balls and also his favorite stuffed toy. This stuffed lion is a "pet" of Wotan's that he carries around and grooms often.
Shakti rests her head tenderly on her close personal friend, Wotan.
Wotan has learned many tricks. Here he is shown performing one of them.......balancing his ball on his nose. He will keep it on his nose until we say "go", then he will toss it up in the air. He catches it in his mouth on its way down about 80% of the time. That's how fast he is! Let me know what you think about my page. Send mail by clicking here
Come see wiener dogs stare down Great Danes, get stuck in logs and blender jars, rips apart enormous carpets, swim in large ponds, hike on the edges of cliffs, help sift compost, and eat lots of pig ears. All that and more can be seen in action photographs at the new page Dashing Dachshunds.
Also take a look at the first web page I did all on one theme and that tells a little story. I think the captions I came up with for this one are more creative too. Come by and see it at: Wiener Dog Takes the Money and Runs
Stop by and see the dachshund page I added in the Fall of 2000;Wonder Wiener Dogs of Washington. It's NOT about dachshunds....it's an inspiring page of poems about nature. You can find it at Well Known Nature Poems
