The starting point for this conversion is a Bachmann 44-ton switcher (shown on the next page) ... the result is a "custom built" locomotive designed for your own railroad's needs.

What is kitbashing?
"Kitbashing" is the art of taking an existing kit or model and rearranging the parts to create "something new." While many modelers have explored and enjoyed this form of creative model building, some are reluctant because it seems too complicated ...

Is it difficult?
No ... it definitely does not have to be difficult! Our new conversion cab (shown here) is notched to fit around the existing hoods on the 44-ton switcher. This eliminates the "most difficult" part of kitbashing -- you do NOT have to make any major cuts on the body shell. (You do have to make some simple cuts to remove the original pilots -- that's where you get your feet wet!)

How do I get started?
Check out the kits, kitbashing ideas and detailing ideas presented here. We have a selection of component parts that give you the basic building blocks -- with our top-notch resin castings & detailed instructions. Review the kitbashing ideas and decide "what else" you'd like to do to personalize your loco. Have a lot of fun ... then share the results with your fellow modelers in your favorite group or in our BVM Gallery!
