WHAT'S NEW
The recent tropo activity over the weekend has led to interesting discovery. It may be possible to detect tropo areas, and visibly see the areas that tropo is effecting, through the use of Doppler Radar. Below are examples of normal & enhanced radar images.
This is what typical non-tropo Doppler Radar looks like. The screen will show only blue, which is probably local ground clutter.
This image shows the Doppler Radar picture when it is picking up false images. As you can see, instead of the blue image, the screen is made up of large areas of reds & oranges. This is not an area of intense tropo, but it gives an idea of what to look for. During real intense openings, the radar shows bands going out in different directions. This could actually graphically show why some areas are getting spectacular tropo while others are getting none. I will try to get a better image when the opportunity arises.

Welcome to my TV DX Home Page. Currently the page is mostly inactive, due to my TV DX set-up being inoperational due to storm damage. During some recent storms, I sustained further damage, which will require the replacement of my Channel Master 1110 VHF antenna. Plans are in place to have the set-up back in service some time next spring. When that occurs, this page will become very active, with a very sophisticated TV DX alert system. I am working out the details on how it will work. Be watching this page for details.
Currently the only TV DX material on the TV DX part of my site are the pages which show many of my best TV DX photos. I still have more photos to scan & add. I am waiting to do so after AOL comes out with their new web publishing software. When this comes out, I am going to redo all of the photo pages.
