(In Memory
of Ace)
Brought
to you by
This site is dedicated to the wonderful world of
Schipperkes. Whether you've been happily owned by Schips for years,
or have never heard of one, you should find this site to be
pleasantly informative, inspiringly uplifting, and uncommonly
refreshing.
The
Schipperke is an exceptionally bright, loyal, loving breed. They
enjoy running, playing, and eating (not necessarily in that order).
Although the Schip will conquer ANY threat, regardless of size, to
protect his human family, he (or she) is above all else, a clown
dedicated to providing years of joy and laughter to his human
family.
The
AKC Breed Standard depicts the ideal Schipperke. The Schipperke Club
of America decides upon the characteristics of a Schip, based upon
their history and purpose. Therefore, in the United States, the
disqualifications of a Schipperke for the show ring, as listed in
the AKC's The Complete Dog Book, are a drop ear (in which one
or both ears don't stand) and any color other than a natural
black. Although other colors are acceptable in some countries,
they are not acceptable here in the States as the typical Schipperke
specimen. This means that a reputable breeder will spay/neuter a
Schipperke of another color and will not attempt to breed them.
Included in this site are many facts about Schips in
general, and individual Schipperkes. The "newbie" will
learn many things such as Schipperke personality and temperament, breed
standard, strengths and weakness of the breed, and the like. The
"experienced" owner should find the articles on breeding,
rescue, and working Schips especially interesting, and any helpful
insight is appreciated.
We
hope that you find this site to be an enjoyable experience. Welcome
to the Schipperke Station!
