WEST TEXAS AFTERNOON
Big, black clouds driftin’
A sad, dark
day
Hot wind a blowin’
Gonna rain, they say
Critters
is all nervous
Oh! What’s that I hear?
Man! That’s the thunder!
It’s
soundin’ awful near
Hey! There’s lightenin’ aflashin’
Run!
Hurry! Get inside.
We hate this kinda weather,
Quick! Under the bed, Hide!

WE PRAY FOR THE CAT
Hear our prayer for our feline friend,
Filled
with hope and care and love.
For this a prayer of concern we send
Straight
to our Lord above.
WE PRAY FOR THE CAT
That comes when
we call
That greets us at the door
That gazes at us with big wide eyes
That
has a favorite toy
WE PRAY FOR THE CAT
That has no
one to go to
That stares silently out of a cage
That refuses to make
eye contact
That has no toys to play with
WE PRAY FOR THE CAT
That
teases the dog
That lies on our feet
That turns up a nose
at pricey food
That gives us sweet sandy kisses
WE PRAY FOR THE
CAT
That has never known companionship
That sleeps wherever they can
That
has not eaten for days
That bites in pure panic driven defense
WE PRAY FOR THE CAT
That stretches out in a sunbeam
That
nibbles on our toes
That hates having nails trimmed
That sleeps near
our head
WE PRAY FOR THE CAT
That shivers in the cold
That
cowers in terror
That has never been to the vets
That has no home
WE PRAY FOR THE CAT
That claims ownership of our
lap
That knocks papers off of the table
That meows loudly at dinnertime
That
brings such joy to our day
WE PRAY FOR THE CAT
That
lives only to give birth
That has nothing to look forward to
That
must forage for food
That may never hear a kind word
WE PRAY
FOR THE CAT
That looks for us if we leave the room
That hides for the
thrill of a sneak attack
That climbs up the curtains
That loves us
no matter how grumpy we are
WE PRAY FOR THE CAT
That has eyes
that reflect pain and fear
That hides in alleys
That climbs to escape
danger
That has never known love
We pray for cats that leap in
play
and those that run because of fright
For those that stay out
of trust
and those that try until they break
For those we never give
up on
and those that don't get a second Chance
Embrace these
tiny and not so tiny ones
Guard them
Protect them
And
grant them a peace that only we as humans can deny them
Amen

Both of these kitties got scared by the storm! One selected the file cabinet
and the other chose the dryer! Texas thunderstorms can be quite fierce! |
Here mew will find fine literary works from the memfurs of Lone Star Felines.
Enjoy! We have moved our Rainbow Bridge section to a new page LSF Rainbow Bridge Tributes. Purrlease visit! |
Vonnie wrote this beautiful poem and dedicated it to a little grey tabby kitty that
was run over by a car in front of her house. We have dedicated it also
to Sebastian Pyewackle, who is a little kitty who is beating the odds. Sebastian
Pyewackle has some problems with his legs, but he is a Miracle Kitty,
and is making excellent progress. He is now an Honorary Texan! We of
LSF dedicate this poem to the little grey tabby and to Sebastian Pyewackle, both
very special kitties and dear to our hearts. |
To honor our Furriends, Brofurs & Sisfurs who have crossed The Rainbow Bridge, we have created a special page dedicated to them. They will be in our hearts
forever. Click on the Rainbow Bridge above to visit. |

Rawrarr kitties, today i'm gonna take

tummies towards that sound! Ready! Set! Yes!! It is a big ol armadillo!!
ZAS! Go Toos! Quick after 'em! Run kitties! Might be she needs help!!
Don't be afeared!! Run! Don't let 'em get away!
Well, lookie there! There's
that girlie kitty Toos, & she's got that ol armadillo by his tail! What a brave
kittie she is! She's gone & caught him all by herself! Ok, now we'll take 'em
down there to the river and send 'em back across to Mexico. He won't be abotherin'
nokitties tonight, that's fur shore!
Now we'll just sit here aspell
an' rest up some. Kitties, look there in my backpack, i brung us all some catnip

What Is A Cat?
Gentle eyes that see so much,
paws that have the quiet
touch.
Purrs to signal "all is well"
and show more love than words
can tell.
Graceful movements touched with pride,
a calming presence
by our side.
A friendship that will last and grow,
small wonder why
we love them so.
