Written by songwriter and poet, Roger Hall, it contains an autobiographical collection of his 16 song lyrics, 30 poems and 6 stories from the 1940s to 1970s.

Included are these Special Features: over 100 additional photos, 25 additional poems, and 30 audio files including songs written by Roger during the 1960s and 1970s.

The stories cover these events in his life:

*his youth as a cowboy fan whose favorites were Gene Autry, Hopalong Cassidy, Tex Ritter and Roy Rogers. Also how he met Hopalong Cassidy and was on the cover of Look magazine in 1950.

*his first singing in a glee club at a military academy located in a castle called "OHEKA" named for the wealthy financier who built it, Otto Kahn, known as "The King of New York." Kahn's castle was the second largest residence ever built in the U.S.A.

*his fond memories of growing up listening to the radio, watching TV and going to the movies.

*his watching the national TV debut of Elvis Presley in 1956 and Roger's later working for the disc jockey, Bill Randle, who introduced Elvis on TV in that year.

*his years as a struggling pop songwriter and his search of female companionship.

*and his friendship with the Shakers and arranging the historic meeting of them with the distinguished composer Aaron Copland in 1974.

The Look magazine dated August 29, 1950 has Hopalong Cassidy on the cover with a young boy sitting on his lap.  

You may have wondered -- who was that boy on the Look magazine cover?  

That little Hoppy fan was Roger Hall.  

To celebrate that anniversary, he has written and compiled an illustrated e-book.  

Roger writes about meeting Hoppy in 1950 and being on the cover of Look magazine with Hoppy, and there's a great color photo of that magazine cover too.

This monograph concerns the life and music of America's first important choral composer, William Billings (1746-1800).

A photocopy of this monograph is available for $15.00.  

MAJESTY is the title of one of the pieces by Billings which was one of the favorites of The Stoughton Musical Society, founded in 1786.

In addition to the details of his life and music, the monograph also contains old maps and illustrations from American tunebooks.

This booklet highlights the 25 most significant events in Stoughton, Massachusetts between 1762 and 1987, including information about the oldest surviving choral society in the United States and the Stoughton High School music programs.

It includes the title page from an 1829 tunebook, a Johnstown Flood Benefit concert program from 1889, and the words and music for an anti-war song: "Peace" (words:  Esther Talbot, 1814/ music: Roger Hall, 1981).

Also included is a CD-R: The Stoughton Harmony (21 tracks) -- with Stoughton performances of music covering the 18th, 19th and 20 centuries, including William Billings, Jacob French, Roger Hall, Oliver Holden, Jeremiah Ingalls, E.A. Jones and other composers.

The Stoughton Musical Society's Centennial Collection of Sacred Music

This is a reprint of the original 1878 tunebook -- one of the largest collections of early New England choral music ever published.  

It contains over 150 pieces by William Billings, Jacob French, Jeremiah Ingalls, Oliver Holden, Daniel Read and many others.  

Also it includes information about The Stoughton Musical Society -- the oldest choral society in the United States, organized in 1786; and biographies of important early American composers.

112. "Come Life, Shaker Life"-- The Life and Music of Elder Issachar Bates

Monograph with music = $15.95

Issachar Bates (1758-1837) was the first major Shaker tunesmith.

This monograph was written and edited by Roger Hall, who has been collecting research and writing about Shaker music for over 35 years.

It deals with Issachar's life as a young fifer in the American Revolution, his years as a Baptist song leader, and finally his life as a Shaker missionary, church leader and tunesmith.

There are also many illustrations of Shaker music manuscripts, plus extensive notes and a list of recommended recordings.

At the back of the monograph are eight representative Shaker spirituals written by Elder Issachar Bates:
