With the unexpected visit of Lord Groo Itiz and Kawjawa from the Shire of the Crymson Stone this past Sunday, history seemed to be in the making once more. Lord Groo has invited the members of the Northern Ice Realm to Billings, where his shire is located, for a battle or three, and possibly a campout in the somewhat near future.
The barbarian also pointed out that he has found a possible supplier of some materials for a phenomenally low cost. With an easy access to both Kite Spar and Fun Noodle, weapons making should become easier than ever.
Also pointed out to us this week was that we may have a sponsor in the Leather Store, here in Helena. Details have yet to be worked out, but if so, our equipment could take a definite upturn in the near future. The masses cheer at the prospect of affordable armor!
Another reason for the masses to cheer is that a new Duke, Regent, and Champion have been chosen to guide us to the Month of the Crown. Our newest Duke, approved in the time-worn fasion of combat tourney, is none other than a Kender by the name of Clep To. Yes, that really is his name. Our Regent, decided by a tie-breaker coin toss by our new Duke, is Ariaha Rialle, our Chancellor's wife. Go figure...maybe the politics is in the family blood. And our Champion of the realm, placing second in our battle tourney, is Likus Donily, recently of the Duchy of Stormhaven, under the Kingdom of the Mystic Seas.
Our numbers are continuing to grow each week, with more of our past members, and several new, coming to train and battle, contesting to be the best fighter on the field. We have an interesting battle game in the planning stages for the coming weeks...depending on the numbers attending, anything can happen--though it is nearly certain that meyhem shall rule the day!
However, as seems to be the standard around these parts, our Amtgard lives are being disrupted by the fires in our Mundane world. Smoke clouds the days, and the heat sometimes seems oppressive, yet there is hope that a breeze will cool the days long enough to carry a battle or two. Additionally, some of our members are bringing their Mundane issues to our Amtgard battlefield, which beyond being discourteous to the rest of the members, is distracting and dangerous to the whole. Efforts are being made to restrict this to a minimum, but only time shall tell.
As always, we meet at Memorial Park on Sundays, from about 12:30PM till everyone decides to call it a day, and again on Thursdays, no set times at this point unfortunately.
