DAVID WALTERS is a consummate professional who has performed and taught privately throughout South Florida since 1983. David Walters studied flute with Parker Taylor (Fort Lauderdale, FL), Sarah Baird Fouse (UF), Jane Prince (FAU), Eugene Johnson (UM), Carol Wincenc (Johannessen School of the Arts, BC), Bernard Goldberg (former Principal Flute, Pittsburgh Symphony) and Albert Tipton (Aspen Music Festival). Mr. Walters presents flute recitals, masterclasses and chamber music performances; presents lectures on issues in the Music Industry; and performs as Principal Flute/Piccolo and Soloist with orchestral ensembles and wind symphonies. David has won First Prize in local, regional, national music competitions.
David Walters performed in one of the first high school Flute Choirs - South Broward High School (SBHS) Hollywood FL - to ever participate in the Florida Bandmasters Association (FBA) Solo-Ensemble Festival (1979, 1980). The SBHS Flute Choir performed Grade VI repertoire and received Superior ratings at FBA District and State Solo-Ensemble Festival.
- FLUTE PEDAGOGY -
THE DAVID WALTERS FLUTE CONSERVATORY consists of gifted beginning, intermediate and advanced level students Grades 1-12; and college level. Mr. Walters offers instruction in flute, piccolo, flute ensembles and instrumental chamber music. Students' achievements include:
~ First Chair Flute/Piccolo Honors Bands - Music Festivals - Music Camps
~ First Chair Flute/Piccolo Middle School & High School Bands throughout South Florida
~ Consistent Superior Ratings FBA District & State Solo-Ensemble Festival
~ Students voted "Musician of the Year" by members of their school band
~ Consistent Superior Ratings and First Place Winners FFMC District & State Junior Festival
~ Numerous students continue their Music study at the collegiate level
~ Many students have been awarded Music Scholarships for Music Camps and College Education
