Welcome to Childbirth Companions Doula Services!
Congratulations on your new pregnancy! My name is Tammi Lei Jones and I am a birth doula. The word "doula" means "woman helping woman". Today it has been applied to childbirth as "a woman experienced in childbirth who provides continuous physical, emotional and informational support to the mother before, during and just after childbirth."

How may a Doula Help?
During pregnancy is an excellent time to meet with her and see what type of services she can provide. You can get to know her philosophy regarding childbirth and see if she is the right doula for you. This is an opportunity to discuss your hopes for your birth and how she can be most helpful. She can help you to make informed decisions regarding your labor and birth. She can become an unlimited resource of information throughout the pregnancy. If you choose her as your doula, you are then able to develop a trusting relationship.
Your doula will remain with you throughout your labor and birth. She will provide emotional, physical and informational support. She may make suggestions for discomforts of labor including (breathing techniques, positions, shower, whirlpool, birth ball, massage, relaxation and visualization techniques). She is there to provide the needed support for your partner.
After the birth of your baby the doula helps you with learning to breastfeed, infant care and the emotional, physical and informational support needed in the postpartum period.
