Characters of Middle Earth
Frodo Baggins: Frodo is the main character in the whole story. He gets hold of the ring, and he is forced to bring it to the fires of Mount doom, the one place the ring can be destroyed. Soon, the ring becomes heaioer and heavier, and it becomes such a great burden. He is put to the test to see if he, a simple hobbit, can withstand the power of the ring.
Gollum: Gollum used to be a hobbit. After the dark lord sauran vanished and the ring ended up in a lake, it was picked up by Smeagol, as he was once known as. He killed his cousin to get it into his possesion. He was exiled to the misty mountains, where he wore the ring too long, it transformed him into the creature known as gollum, and now he is seeking to kill Frodo to get it back.
Bilbo Baggins: Bilbo is frodo's uncle. A long time ago, the Wizard Gandalf took Bilbo on a quest with him to defeat Smaug the dragon. On the way, he stumbles into Gollum, and steels the ring from him. When he left for Rivendell on his 111 birthday, he hands the ring to Frodo, now it is Frodo's burden.
Gandalf the Gray/White:Gandalf is a 24,000 year old wizard. He is very wise and he doesn't think he would be able to take the ring to mount doom in mordor, but he has faith that a hobbit can. Wizards have two stages, grey and White. They turn into different colors when they show themself brave and courageous, here, he showed himself by putting his live in danger for the rest of the fellowship.
Saruman: Saruman is a wizard just like Gandalf, but he is ensnared by Sauran's lies. He is a follower of Saraun. Saraun's "puppet" if you will. His one desire is to capture all of the hobbits, and snatch the ring. He's more intrested in mechanics and machines more so than living things. Example: Fangorn Forest.
Sam: Sam is a gardener in the Shire. Later, he joins Frodo side by side to take the ring to Mordor. He is the bestest friend any person can ever have. He's very loyal and kind. No matter how overly obsessed Frodo gets with the ring, he is still willing to help.
Merry: Merry is an other Hobbit who goes on Frodo's adventure to destroy the ring, but him and Pippen get kidnapped by fighting Urak-hai, and are on their way to Saruman, beacause he thinks they have the ring. If you read the books, he is a Brandybuck, and is somehow related to Frodo.
Pippin: Pippin is Frodo's second cousin, and Merry's best friend. He is very clumsy, yet he can be pretty wise. His desiar is that Frodo and Sam would be safe and that all four of them would meet in the Shire again.
Aragorn: Aragorn was ranger, and he is part of the Fellowship. He is also a Dunedein, a man gifted with long life. He's very skilled with the sword and uses the sword that his ancestor, Isildur used to defeat Sauron. Sauron feers Aragorn, for he has the same blood as Isildur. Aragorn is a very brave person, and he will do anything to make sure a task is completed.
Legolas: Legolas is an Elf from Mirkwood. Elve's are the wisest and fairest of all beings, and they are also immortal. Legolas is very skilled with bow and arrows. He travels along side with Aragorn, the man, and Gimli the Dwarf. He was also a part of the Fellowship to help Frodo take the Ring to Mordor.
Gimli:Gimli is a dwarf. Dwarfs ar short, but not as short as hobbits. Dwarfs have really rough beards and there main weapons are axes. Gimli is like a little rough, tough battle tank. He's willing to fight anything. he's very fond of the hobbits, and will do anything to save them from Saruman's clutches.
Boromir:Boromir, also was part of the Fellowship, and when he sees Frodo with that ring, his hair stands on end. He really wants the ring, and he's tried to snatch it from Frodo because the ring is controling him. Soon after that he dies a trajic and painfull death from the Urak-hai leader, Lurtz.
Faramir: Faramir is Boromir's brother. He wasn't part of te Fellowship. His dad Denothor, does not like him. He lobves Boromir. When he heard about his brother's death, he wanted to get revenge.
Grima Wormtongue: Grima is a spie of Sarumaun, tricking the King, Theoden into thinking he's a loyal servent. Until, he helped Sarumaun cast a spell on the King. When Theoden found out he was Sarumaun's henchman, he exiled him back to the Tower of Orthanc.
