'68 ElCamino
'68 El Camino
Before.............
This is the ElCamino now. Not too shabby, for $1500, that is. The seller wanted $2500 for it, but upon reception of the ownership, which was signed and pre-dated, he had to hurry and sell it, and I was the only person that made an offer. Here in Hawaii, once the ownership is "dated", you have 10 days to change ownership, or receive a $50 penalty, plus the usual $10 fee for the transfer. So the seller, which wasn't the actual owner ( don't ask, it's a long story ) got desperate, for fear of losing all sales potential, because of a "dated" ownership. Sounds silly, but at least I got it!!! It's an original 307/4 speed car, with a non-posi 10 bolt rearend. Looks like it may have had an A/C system originally, according to the wiring under the dash. There's rust in the usual places ( hidden areas ), but the body is pretty decent. It's the original engine block, but the heads are from a '71 307....at least they stayed with the "theme". The front suspension needs rebuilding, but otherwise still a steal at $1500, in Hawaii!! ( Where people add 100% to the actual value, thinking because we're in the middle of nowhere, the car they have, which is plentiful up in the "states", is rare, and valuable over here. So silly, these people!!!)

A few of the many....
My Other Cars
Over the years, I've been the owner of many cars, about 16 total, within the last 11 years....yes I know, I'm an addict. I've been fortunate to have owned 3 '67 Nova's. ( a 2 dr.coupe, original 6 cyl. converted to V8, and an excellent almost rust free body, a 2 dr. SS coupe, all original 283/powerglide, with buckets and console, but a "full on" rustbucket, which was chopped up and sold for parts. And finally my 2 dr. sedan (post)race car, with a 406 smallblock, camelback 1.94's, fenderwell headers, Muncie M21 wide ratio, and a 10 bolt posi, with 4.11's, steel axles, C-clip eliminators and Centerlines with 28" MT slicks. Mid 12's at around 105 mph, when the slicks "bite".)Also on the list are a '71 3/4 ton, and a '72 3/4 ton( both pickups, the '71 was converted to a dually, with just a set of replacement dually wheel studs and some inner fender modifications, and the tires almost fit under the stock wheel openings!!!), a '78 Elcamino, an '84 Caballero, an '83 Toyota pickup and a '79 Toyota pickup( the '79 had a set of "1 piece" dually wheels, and was probably the best vehicle I've ever owned to date, rust and all!!!),an '83 Chevy Silverado 4wd pickup,( which I got for free from an uncle who unfortunately lost his bout with cancer )which I lifted 4 inches and added 33" MT All Terrains, and a whole bunch of "ho-hum" cars...... all, of course, had a special place with me. So thanks for visiting me, and listen to me ramble on about my "children". I think my friends and co-workers are all worn out from listening to me all of these years.....yeah Sam? hehe....

OH, BY THE WAY.....
This was my dad's 1970 ElCamino. It had a 350/4 speed and dual exhaust from the "factory". No A/C, no power steering....in fact no power anything, EXCEPT the high performance 350/Muncie transmission combo. This picture was taken just before he traded it in for a Blazer, in '75. I believe this car was special ordered. But when shipped to it's destination, here in Hawaii, was either no longer wanted or fell into a "financial pothole"(The orderer not being able to pay), consequently ending up on the car lot, where my dad found it. Definitely an eyecatcher, I'm sure you'll agree. The guy who bought it, after dad turned it in, added a few "goodies.....chromed Corvette rearend and stuff....and over the years, proceeded to "total" the car a FEW times :-(. I believe it no longer exists....so sad. Thanks again for visiting!
