What is the BECT Mission ?
The mission of BECT, is to provide Emergency Communications support to Federal, State, and local agencies in Kentucky, during Emergency situtations. We provide support to Boone Center, in Frankfort, which includes MARS/Amateur (AAR4NBI/KF4AAV) operations from the state EOC (Emergency Operations Center), through which we support the missions of the KyEM (Kentucky Emergency Management), KyNG, (Kentucky National Guard), and STARC (State Area Command).
We also operate AAT4RAA/WA4UMV, from the Lexington Army Reserve Center. This is our primary Gateway Station, during communications drills and exercises, and during Actual Emergency Missions.
We also operate the BECT Club Station, AAR4CBE/W4CBE. This is a Field Portable Station, which we can take to a Disaster Site, to relay on-scene information back into the MARS/ARES nets.
We take part in many communications drills and exercises each year. The biggest is "Grecian Firebolt" (GF-03 is scheduled for June 2003). This is a Military/Federal Government exercise, comprising all of the Military Services, and Federal Agencies, that would be involved in Emergency Communications, during an Actual Emergency.
