1st & 2nd Place Trophy & Prize money of $950 was splitted between the teams of;
BX CISCO(Cisco Aponte)/ Snuka and Buddha Reed/ Eddie "Styles" Santiago
3rd Place Trophy and $50 was awarded to the team of; King George( George Figueroa)/ Justin
Tournament Highlights;
1st round action- Andre/Efrain (Philly) defeated Tony/Juan (Reading), King George/Justin defeated Bucky/JoeG (Atwn) 21-3, Harold/Squiggy (Atwn-Brooklyn) defeated Amuary/Armando (Reading), Wally/Brian (Philly) defeated Chico/El (Philly), Fast Eddie P./Carlos(NY-Brooklyn) defeated Jess/Derrick 21-1, Buddha/Eddie "Styles" Santiago (NY) defeated Dave Rojas/Tony Roberts (NY) 21-20 this was thee best game of the 1st round Dave/Tony took a commanding lead 19-12, Buddha/Eddie slowly chip their wayback in , on 1st server Tony's ace it to 19-15, Eddie return of serve goes out to make it match point, but misses on three consecutive match points, 2nd server Dave hits out 20-15 after getting Buddha/Eddie down twice, Eddie fires back a couple pop serves and a killshot and Buddha providing an angle killer to the deep left corner to make it 20-19. Again the team of Dave/Tony could not finish off Buddha/Eddie and again went down without scoring, Buddha serves and misses, 2nd server Eddie serves and scores to tie 20-20, serves for possible match point, and aces to Tony Roberts who misses the return to give game & match to Buddha/Eddie 21-20.
The other really good 1st rounder Rook/Lil Rook (W4th St) vs Jaime/Paulie (NY) this game was fast and furious it was an up and down game back and worth, with crazy spike shots, killers and pure hustle especially by Lil Rook & Jaime but finally Rookie/Lil Rook pulled away to win 21-13.
other 1st round games BJ/Wildman Rick (W4th St) defeating Pablo/Willie (Atwn), Lefty Henry/Angel Teron (NY/Bronx) defeating Gilbert/Ray (Philly) 21-10,BX Cisco/Snuka (Bronx) crushed Pablo/Willie (Atwn) 21-0. BJ/Wildman Rick defeated Larry/Jose
2nd Round action starts with- King George/Justin defeating Andre/Efrain 21-3, Wally/Brian defeating Harold/Squiggy, Buddha/Eddie defeating Fast Eddie/Carlos 21-7, BJ/ Wildman Rick upset win defeating Lefty Henry/Angel Teron 21-20 this was action at it's best BJ with those killer whips to the left coner had Angel eating the fence, Angel had a very fierce game with alot lot of killers, he was killing shots at will but BJ/Rick always provided an answer and rally back to win 21-20. The team of BX Cisco/Snuka came to conquer by beating the reigning champs of Peewee Castro/Willie Polanco 21-16. This games was just pure power after power shot..no holding back..BX Cisco/Snuka started quick to a 4-0 lead after a crushing lefthand roller by Snuka, BX Cisco takes to 7-0, Peewee/Willie only score one point 1-7, BX Cisco/Snuka back on the attack serving 7-1 go ahead 13-1, Peewee surges back on serve 7 straight points and on Willie 2nd serve 6 more points, to take the lead 14-13...wow..what a game..BX Cisco/Snuka get the lead back to 16-15 BX Monster hits 3 killers in a row..to up the lead 19-15, on 2nd server Snuka serves and volleys Peewee/Willie miss the return to get match point 20 serving 15, Snuka serves after a few hustling volleys by both teams Snuka smacks a game winning roller again with his left right down the middle of the court.
3rd Round action- King George/Justin defeating Wally/Brian 21-15, Buddha/Eddie defeating Rookie/Lil Rook 21-20, this game was in the bag for Rookie/Lil Rook up 19-7, Buddha/Eddie crawled back to life in this one (with the exception of a few bad calls an out call, a roller, blocks call, crossball) Rookie and Lil Rook should had won but didn't...Lil Rooks play was non existent after it was 19-7, yes he was in volleys but was playing to safe with the lead.. after a exceptional spin-a-roni by Rookie was called out by talking in a direct volley, in which would've gave him match point. Buddha/Eddie slowly chip away at the lead again little be little, with Eddie Styles great hustle he was not letting up on any play, and adding Rookie's frustration, Rookie couldn't even buy a inside ball even if they were 3 for $1 at your near by 7-11 store. Rookie 2nd serve kills Eddie right corner to get match point, but again he hits his return out, Buddha serves out and 2nd server Eddie serves and kills to tie it at 20 all...and serves again for the match and Rookie chokes on the last point..to give up the game.
Semi-Finals- BX Cisco/Snuka advances to finals, Buddha/Eddie Styles defeats King George/Justin 21-9, 1st serves goes to King George but quickly goes down, Eddie scores 6 straight then side-out, George/Justin sides-out again, Buddha/eddie takes the lead upto 9-0, Justin crushes a monster return deep into Buddha right corner and Buddha looked at Eddie saying "you didn't expect me to get that! did you!!". King George/ Justin got back on the board with 3 quick points after a few very good rally's King George whips it to the left corner with his righthand to get the game to 9-12, Justins serves and volleys Buddha boxed in the middle of the court while he killed it in Justin left corner. Eddie serves and kills 2 shots to be up 14-9, Buddha added the finishing touches to serve out the rest of the game 21-9.
The Finals- BX Cisco/Snuka vs Buddha/ Eddie Styles
1st serves went to BX Cisco/Snuka, BX Cisco serves but quickly goes down, boths teams with 2 service attempts and no points, Buddha/Eddie get on board first and go up 3-0, BX Cisco with 2 monster lefthand kills and a Buddha miss hit ties it at 3-3, a Buddha killshot and Eddie roller and few more volleys gets the score to 10 serving 5, then came the Monster Drop Shot and the crowd goes WILD!! to get the side-out. Snuka servs and kills 2 in a row, and then BX Cisco serves and kills 1 and a Buddha miss hit again to make the score 9-10, then came the rain.......after mutual agreement they decided to split the 1st & 2nd Place Trophies & Prize money
