MY FORD TRANSPONDER KEYS
|
|
|
|
This site is created as a PUBLIC SERVICE to educate the consumer as to what Anti-Theft Transponder system they have in their FORD vehicle. To make them aware of the consequences of loosing keys to these cars on the road. A real nightmare in some cases. Trips over, car gets towed to a dealer. Your broke down, stranded. Your not going anywhere until you get keys cut and programmed into the cars computer.
This is not just a FORD thing. Approximately 90% of cars on the road today have Transponder Anti-Theft ignition systems.

What is a Transponder Key?
(transmitter-responder= transponder)
Basically it is a radio transmitter / receiver device that is programmed into your cars computer at the factory. If the vehicle's computer does not receive the correct key identification response when the key is turned to the on position, it will not start. No fuel, no spark, no starter. No Go. (Vehicle cannot be hot wired.)

Ford has three systems in use at present:
PATS I, PATS II & PATS III or EPATS (encrypted keys)
Within these three systems there are several different types of key blanks. Some have a longer key blade. If your car requires the longer key blade the shorter one will not work. Also the correct Chip type has to be used. Some have the Remote built into the head of the key. Some have 3 or 4 button remotes. Before you waste your money on the wrong key blank make sure you know what key blank is right for your vehicle.

What I can do for you! I can add new keys to you vehicle. In case of lost or stolen keys, I can erase all keys from the system and then re-enter all the keys you have. This way the lost or stolen keys will not start the vehicle.
Have at least 3 keys for these cars. When your down to 1 key you cannot program additional keys by yourself. Keep your FORD PATS anti-theft system working for you. It is probably the best system available. It certainly is the most owner friendly.
When you buy a pre-owned Ford product make sure you have all keys erased and then your keys added back in. This prevents anyone with old keys from driving away with your car.

If you have any questions email me. I want you to have a good FORD experience. My first car was a 1957 FORD Fairlane and my latest is a 2004 F-150. I've found them to be tough, dependable, solid built vehicles. FORD is the first American car company, building cars since 1903. I am proud to own and drive FORD. To me they are second to none. Lets keep an American car on the American road. Think about that the next time you look to buy. Compare, test ride, feel the quality and safety. Don't think foreign is better, don't sell us short. Change that mind set.
I only do Ford Transponder keys because: (1) They are the least expensive. (2) Simpliest system. (3) Cut on a standard key machine. (4) The first system with the most cars are on the road.
