Recent Incidents
10/10/03- Engine 63, E64 and Squad 1 respond to a car fire, Engine 64 is first due, reports heavy smoke and fire.
10/12/03- Engine 64 and Truck 1 respond to a report of smoke possible structure fire. Upon arrival Engine 64 reported heavy smoke venting from the house along with fire. It was immediately updated to a full box and a second engine and truck company was dispatched, the fire was subdued almost 2 hours later.
12/5/03-12/6/03- Lego-Opolis got slammed by a huge snow storm. Almost 2 feet of snow fell, and the Lego-Opolis fire department was out all day and night helping people out. Around 100 calls came through these two days and most of them were MVAs, also some were smells of gas and small kitchen and chimney fires.
1/20/03- Engine 64 and Truck 1 got toned out for a residential alarm at 1:30 AM. It came through as an alarm, but upon arrival the first due engine reported a light smoke condition. Upon entry of the house, the interior crew found heavy smoke and fire inside the residence. An immediate second alarm was sent and additional units responded. The fire was out at around 2:45. Nobody was injured.
1/27/03- More snow is being predicted in the Lego-Opolis area tonight. A possible 10-15 inches of snow might fall. The department is ready for calls and additional crew members have been called to the stations. Pictures of some of the incidents (if there are any) will be uploaded at a later date.
4/4/04- Engine 64, Engine 63, Truck 1 and Squad 1 got toned out as a full box for the report of heavy smoke coming from within a row of stores. Upon arrival first due Engine 63 reported a smoke condition. Further investigation proved it to be an electrical fire within one of the buildings.
4/8/04- Engine 63 and Truck 67 got toned out for an afternoon car fire, upon arrival Engine 63 reported the car as fully involved, the car was put out using an 1 3/4 pre-connected line. Engine 63 manned the line, as Truck 67 popped the hood.
4/29/04- Engine 61, Engine 63, Truck 67, and Tanker 68 responded to a chimney fire, first due Engine 61 reported flames coming from the chimney, Tanker 68 stood by while Engine 63 investigated the interior and Truck 67 and Engine 61's crew worked on the roof and dropped chimney grenades down to put the fire out (chimney grenade are small bags of dry-chem).
7/24/04- Engine 61, Engine 63, Truck 67 and Hazmat 1, Medic 3 and Medic 4 responded to a suspicious white powder call. The call came in as suspicious white powder was spilled and 2 people were exposed, the powder was analyzed and was not harmful.
8/22/04- A call came in at 2:15 AM for Box 255 for a reported structure fire. Initial response sent Engine 63, Engine 64 and Truck 1. First due units reported heavy fire showing. Engine 61 was dispatched as the RIT (Rapid Intervention Team) and Truck 67 and the Squad responded. Fire was knocked down at 3:45 AM and units left the scene at 4:15.
9/7/04- A call came through at 10:43 PM for box 173 for a possible house fire. Engine 64, Engine 61 and Truck 67 responded as a residential alarm response. When 61 arrived on scene, they reported smoke coming from the second floor of an occupied single-family two story residential. Investigation showed heavy fire at the rear of the residence. A second alarm was transmitted at 10:56 PM, this sent Engine 63, Truck 1 and Squad 1 as the RIT team. Fire was knocked down at 12:01 AM.
9/9/04- A call came through for a collapse at a construction scene at 11:23 in the afternoon. This sent Rescue 1, Engine 61, TAC 1 and Squad 1. After all units arrived on scene, the Incident Commander put in a special call for Truck 65 to respond. The accident claimed one workers life, and the 3 other workers involved sustained somewhat serious injuries.
11/23/04- Engine 61, 63, 64, Trucks 1 and 67, Rescue 2 and Squad 1 got toned out for a reported fire in a high-rise building. Upon arrival first due companies reported nothing showing. It ended up being a small oven fire in an apartment. A recall was put in a few minutes later holding Engines 61, 64 and Truck 1.
11/24/04- Engine 63 got toned out for a reported leaf fire at 9:27 PM. Upon arrival they reported a large leaf pile on fire with a possible extension to a residence. This was updated to a full box sending Truck 67, Engine 62 and Squad 2. The fire was contained by 9:45, units left the scene at 9:55.
11/25/04- Engine 62, 63, Truck 67 and Squad Engine 2 got toned out for a reported structure fire at 2:04 AM. First due Engine 62 and Squad 2 reported fire showing from a second story window with occupants reported trapped. A second alarm was then transmitted by Batallion 3. This sent Engine 64 and Truck 1. Occupants were found and removed by the primary search team of Squad 2. The fire was knocked down by 3:37 AM. Last units left the scene at 5:02 AM.
12/10/04- E63,E64,T1,S2,D3 responded to a reported chimney fire. D3 arrived on scene and reported smoke showing from the chimney and he requested to fill out the box. This sent E62 as the RIT and T67 to assist. The fire was out about an hour later and all units returned in service 1 hour after that.
1/16/05- 2:49 A.M. E61, E62, E63, T65, S2 and D4 responded to a possible structure fire for box 591. Deputy 4, S2 and E62 arrived first due to find smoke and fire showing from a 3 story residential. Since the structure was so large, a second alarm was struck at 2:56 A.M. sending S1 and T1. Fire was out by 3:49, units left the scene at 7:22 A.M.
1/22/05- A huge blizzard hit Lego-Opolis. Crews were called back to the station for extra manpower. The department did over 100 calls from Saturday night into Sunday. Most calls were for trees and wires down, small MVA's, 2 extrications and 1 working chimney fire.
1/25/05- 4:02 AM, E61, E63, E64, T1, S1, D3 responded to a reported structure fire. Upon arrival E64, T1 and the Deputy saw heavy smoke and fire coming from a 2 and 1/2 story residential structure. D3 requested a RIT team, and R2 was dispatched. 3 lines were stretched and Truck 1's stick was used to gain access to the roof. The fire was out at 5:52 and the last unit left the scene at 9:41 AM.
2/8/05- E63, E64, T1 and D2 got toned out for a kitchen fire at a residence. D2 arrived on scene and reported smoke showing. T67 and S1 got toned out to fill out the box. The fire was extinguished 30 minutes later, and units left the scene 90 minutes after arriving.
2/9/05- 8:56 AM, E62, E63, E64, T1, S2 and D2 got toned out for a reported structure fire. D2, E64 and T1 got on scene and reported nothing showing. E64's crew entered the residence and found heavy fire in the basement. D2 requested an additional engine and truck to the scene. T67 and E61 got toned out and R2 was dispatched as the RIT team. A total of 4 lines were stretched. A recall was put in at 10:06 AM. Units returned to quarters at 12:14.
4/20/05- 5:02 PM, E61, E63, E64, T67, S1 and D3 respond to 95 Intervale Road for a reported structure fire. E63 and T67 arrived on scene with D3 and reported heavy fire showing from the 2nd floor and rear of a 2 1/2 story house. E64 hit the hydrant, S1 and E61 were search and rescue. A second alarm was sounded at 5:15 which brought R2 as the RIT, E1 and T1 to the scene. The fire was brought under control at 6:03 and companies left the scene at 7:46.
7/26/05- 2:32 PM, E63, E64 and Truck 67 responded to an automatic residential alarm at 103 Newfield Ave, box 3. As units responded, they got an update as a smoke condition in the house. Deputy 3 called for a full box, that sent E61 and Squad 1. As Engine 63's crew made entry to the basement they encountered heavy fire. A second alarm was then sounded sending E62 and T1. As units pulled out 10 minutes later, they reverted to an exterior attack with 2.5 inch lines. A third alarm was then sounded sending E1, Truck 65 and Rescue 2. As the fire started moving up into the second floor, a 4th alarm was transmitted sending Satellite 1 to the scene. Manpower was needed to respond to the stations due to all the first due engine companies operating. Squad 3 was reverted to a truck company and Squad 2 was made first due engine company for citywide. E1a and E2a were put into service and a few alarms came through for those crews.
