Lego-opolis fire department covers a total of about 20 square miles, and was established in 1928. The department consists of 6 stations, . The fire department runs 3 truck companies, 4 engine companies, 2 rescue companies, 2 squads, 1 Haz-Mat, 1 Tanker, 1 Hosewagon, 1 Sattelite unit and 4 Ambulances. The ambulances have ALS capibilities, and Rescue 2, Rescue 1, both squad units and Engine 64 all have BLS EMS equipment on them. The department also has 1 SCUBA truck and 3 boats. The boats are pulled by the SCUBA truck and a car which has BLS medic equipment. The other boat is carried on TAC 1 which responds to most working fires, some Haz-Mat incidents and all water rescue calls. Also the department chief has a car and the medic supervisor has a car. The department runs an average of 7,000 calls a year.
