Johnny “Box” Connolly has generated a reputation as an accomplished button accordionist of the highest order. Johnny’s talents have paved the way across continents and provided him opportunities to perform and record with many internationally-renowned artists including Kevin Burke, the Chieftains, Patrick Ourceau, Aidan Brennan and Tony Furtado. His first solo CD, entitled "Bridgetown", on the highly esteemed Green Linnet Records label has earned critical claim and brought Connolly to the forefront of the younger generation of traditional Irish musicians. Johnny has joined extraordinary banjo and bodhran player, Dave Cory, and journeyman guitar accompanist Cary Novotny to form the high energy Irish traditional power trio "Bridgetown," borrowing the name from Johnny's first cd. Novotny has recorded and performed with many great bands in the world of Irish music, including the "The Bridies", featuring fiddlers Maire Egan and Brenda Curtin of Michael Flatley’s “Lord of the Dance”, and Hanz Araki. Cory hails from the Bay area and at the age of 26 has established himself as a multi-instrumentalist of note with musical sensibility and taste beyond his years. Dave has been taking turns on the guitar, banjo, bass, and bodhran with many notable Irish artists across America, including the “Magic Square”, Lissa Schneckenberger, and Elliot Grasso. Bridgetown has just released its first recording entitled “East of the Tracks.”
