The show begins with Max at Joshua’s house. The two are setting off flee bombs to get rid of the infestation. Max tells Joshua to stay outside for a while and that she has to go meet Logan at Crash.
At Crash, Logan is sitting alone at a table working on a diagram of connections between the breeding cult and Manticore. Max sits down and they talk for awhile…in the meantime Alec is sitting at the bar talking to Asha. He tells her to forget about him and move on. It’s not safe for her to be involved with him. Max comes to the bar to get a refill on the beer and Alec tells her how it is dangerous for transgenics to be involved with humans since there are people trying to hunt down the transgenics. Logan comes up behind the two and asks what is going on. Alec walks away and Max tells Logan she is tired and is going to leave. Logan doesn’t believe her and keeps questioning her. When Max tries to sidestep Logan he grabs a hold of her shirt sleeve, not thinking she twists out of it and Logan touches her skin. Logan is rushed to the hospital and Max is given the news that there is no cure. She asks the doctor if the antibodies from another transgenic will cure Logan. The doctor tells her that it is worth a shot. Max immediately calls Alec and he says that he will be there as soon as he can. Alec walks out of the bar and is taken into custody by a large group of policemen. Logan has little time left so Max goes to Joshua’s house in hopes that Joshua’s blood can save Logan.
In the meantime Joshua is asleep on the porch when a dog starts licking his face. He awakes and sees a woman with the dog. Her name is Annie and her dog’s name is Billy, she is blind. Joshua and Annie become quick friends. She says good bye to Joshua and walks away just as Max pulls up on her bike. She tells Joshua to hurry and they rush off to the hospital.
Back at the hospital Joshua is in Logan’s room giving him a transfusion, Max is outside with Original Cindy. Max confides in her friend saying that she can no longer see Logan because she loves him too much to risk killing him. The doctor comes out soon after and tells Max that Logan will be fine and he is asking to see her. Max tells Original Cindy that she cannot see Logan and walks out of the hospital.
The next day at work Normal is looking for Alec. Sketchy informs Original Cindy and Max later that day at Crash that Alec has been arrested. Original Cindy convinces a reluctant Max to go free Alec. Max heads down to the precinct posing as a district attorney. After Alec says that he is convicted of murder and he didn’t do it Max tells him to tell it to Ames and gets ready to leave. Just as the guard comes to the door Alec tells her the details of the murder and how all the victims teeth were removed. (if you watched season 1 you know that the crime was convicted by Alec’s twin Ben). Max plans the escape and the two get away.
Alec goes to Max’s apartment with her and talk about Ben. The next morning Max and Alec are walking out of her apartment. The two are acting as friends for once and not fighting with each other. Alec puts his arm around Max and jokes around a bit. Max starts to laugh. Just then Logan pulls up to talk to Max and sees her laughing and smiling with Alec. He gets back in his car and leaves. Alec decides to go crash at Joshua’s for awhile while the heat is still on him for murder.
…Ames’s decides to release his transgenic prisoner (Mule, I think is his name) and tells him that the sector police are enemy soldier’s. Mule fights them when they try to apprehend him and it is caught on video. The video is released for all to see and the threat of mutants running around has just become clear to the public. Max, Alec, and Joshua decide that they need to stick together at all costs. Alec convinces Joshua to break his friendship with Annie and stop seeing her. Joshua is upset about this, just as Max is for not being able to see Logan. While Max is comforting Joshua she sees a necklace with the symbol of the breeding cult around his neck. She takes it and heads over to Logan’s house. She sticks it to his bulletin board and is ready to leave when all the lights go on in the apartment. Max turns to see Logan sitting at a table drinking. She tells him that she didn’t think anyone was home and he replied. If you did then you wouldn’t have come inside. She tries to leave but Logan keeps stepping in front of her. He tells her that she can’t leave, well at least until he drops dead. It is obvious that Logan is quite drunk and quite upset. He asks Max why she doesn’t want to see him anymore. Or maybe who would be the better question. He tells her how he saw Alec outside her apartment. She lies to him and tells him that her and Alec are involved and that’s it is over between the two of them and walks out.
Max is now on top of the space needle looking out. Alec comes and sits with her and tells her that after today they could both use a friend. He asks her for any words of wisdom and she replies “Love sucks”.
