Materials: Yule log (oak or pine), White-handle knife (for carving sun sigil in Yule log, done beforehand), Crystals to represent icicles on alter, white cloth or batting for snow on alter, Bayberry candles, Gold God candle, Silver Goddess candle, Stag or Sun candle holder (2 places for god(dess)), Chalice with mulled wine (or better yet wassail), wreath (will be burned later! must be natural!), ribbons or yarn of all colors for wreath, talking stick, athame, white taper as power candle
1) Talking stick time; all introduce themselves and HP and HPs explain what is going to happen in circle
2) Play and/or have guide read a story of Yule.
3) Begin!
Note: If lines are this colour, it is important that they remain as close to written as possible, otherwise mostly just be sure to get all the ideas across.
Hps holds up wreath. "This is our wheel! We have created it ourselves. We have created our time. We have, and will create the wheel!"
HP takes wheel. "The wheel is what we make of it. It is our hopes and fears. It is what we love and hate in ourselves. It is what we are and what we hope to become.
HPs says "Just as we make our lives our own by our actions let us make our wheel our own with our dreams." Lays wreath down in centre of circle.
Guide explains yarn colours and symbols
Pink: Love and affection
Green: Prosperity and healing
Red: Passion and energy
Blue: peace and protection
Yellow: Mental powers and confidence
Purple: Wisdom and spirituality
White: Blessings and truth
Black: Banish old negative influences
Guide says "Choose as many colours as you like to manifest these wishes in the coming year. We will let the power of this wheel grow with us until Brigit's day when we will release it in flame to manifest!" Goes to light bayberry candles
Note: Colours of yarn are laid out and have index cards underneath them labeling them. Yarn should already be cut into 4 inch lengths for easy tying.
All present at this point take pieces of yarn and tie them on as we sing.

When wreath is complete
HP says "I now call upon those who would represent us to the spirits to step forward and do so now.
(Quarters are called as the individual would do it...East, South, West, then North)
HPs stands in goddess position "Mother! I know that you are tired and that you would sleep while your Lord Sun is away, but tonight we Yule to call forth the Sun! Guide us. I come to you as maiden, I come to you as mother, I come to you as crone, to call you as Goddess and as Lover of God to call the Sun! Mother!" Lights silver candle on altar with power candle.
HP stands in god position "Ancient God of the Sun! I know that you are far in your travels now, but tonight the Earth shivers and we Yule to call you forth. I come to you as guardian, I come to you as hunter, I come to you as guide, to call you as Lord and lover of the Goddess to bring back your light and be reborn! Lord!" Lights gold candle on altar with power candle.
HP and HPs say "And now we enter the place between the worlds, this circle is cast!" HP circles with right arm raised above head to show the circle and HPs circles with left arm.
HP says "Since that time that the veil between the worlds was the thinnest, there have been dark days. We have looked in on ourselves and tried to find answers. As we have contemplated, so to has the Earth, turning in on herself."
HPs says "But though this is the darkest night, it is the night that we must remember that hope springs eternal. We have called out God and in tomorrow's sunrise he will answer."
HP says "And so we toast the sun's rebirth and the promise that it brings. Love, light and hope will reign."
HP serves wine/wassail to all present except those who don't wish alcohol [they should grip the chalice but not bring it to their lips]. HPs is served second to last. Guide is served last. Then Guide serves to HP.
Said to each person served "Drink of the bounty of the union between the earth and sun."
Guide says "Let us Yule! Celebrate and call in song!"
All sing "The earth, the air, the fire, the water, returns returns returns returns [repeat]
Eye-eh eye-eh eye-eh eye-eh eye-oh eye-oh eye-oh eye-oh [repeat][repeat all]
HPs holds chalice, facing HP "Welcome back, Oh Blessed Horned One. The time you spent away from us has helped us to grow into a time of rebirth."
HP holds athame, facing HPs "Thank you, Oh Sweet Goddess, for the power of your womb that brings forth new life, a new light before us and a new world ahead."
Guide says "The blindfold that has lain upon the world is now lifted. We are truly blessed!"
HPs says "Let us open this circle that it may encompass the world and that we may light the Yule fire to add power to the light of the returning Sun! To the elements and spirits that have been here, thank you, stay if you will, go if you must."
All say "As we walk once more upon ordinary ground,
let us remember that what we have done here, is ever a part of us.
We are POWER! We are CHANGE!
Our circle is open, but never broken!
Merry meet, Merry part and Merry meet again!
All sing "May the circle be open, but unbroken, may the peace of the Goddess be ever in your heart. Merry meet, merry part and merry meet again!"
HP and HPs take gold and silver candles and go light the Yule fire!
Much rejoicing....eating (Yule Log)..gift exchanging and all that groovy stuff!!!
