This web site was initially created for readers and supporters of the alt.support.amputee amputee newsgroup to view and learn about prosthetic devices, but all amputees and family members are welcome here.  Newsgroup messages can also be posted and viewed for free using Google at groups.google.com/ (formerly known as Deja.com). 

 Important aspects of being an amputee are available here such as selecting the right prosthetist, achieving a comfortable pain-free prosthetic fit, resolving residual limb pain, phantom pain, insurance definitions of medical necessity and more.
