DIRECTOR HALL JOINS HOUSTON FACULTY
HOUSTON (AP)- Sir Peter Hall, one of the world's foremost theatre directors, is going back to school.
The University of Houston School of Theatre announced Hall will join its faculty this fall.
Hall, founder of Britian's Royal Shakespeare Company, will take the Lyndall F. Wortham Performing Arts Chair left vacant by the February death of director Jose Quintero.
Hall, who joins three-time Pulitzer Prize-winner Edward Albee and Tony-winning Broadway producer Stuart Ostrow at the university, will teach courses on Shakespeare and directing.
"After nearly 50 years of directing, I would like to try to share what I have learned," Hall said in a statement issued Friday.
Hall, a two-time Tony Award winner, directed the Royal Shakespeare Company until 1968 before directing the Royal National Theatre from 1973-88. His credits also include recent years of directing at the Glyndebourne Festival Opera and the Old Vic.
