AMA Indie Financing Guide
AMA has put together a database
of most of the financing, production and distribution companies that are proven
suppliers of coin for independent productions (currently more than 130.) The
information has been gathered using all type of sources (i.e. Daily Variety,
The Hollywood Reporter, ShowBIZ Data, IMDb, indieWIRE, [INSIDE], Screen
International, LA Times, NY Times, WSJ, news wires, companies press releases,
personal and professional networks, etc.)
The information is maintained in
a daily basis as news break for each of the companies included in the database.
New companies are added as they release news of their formation. The database
allows us to be able to pinpoint those companies that may be most interested in
any specific project, considering the estimated budget, genre and package
status (story and talent attached.)
The information for each company
includes the company name, address, phone and fax numbers, contact, contact
title, e-mail address (if available), company profile (financing, production,
distribution or any combination thereof) and its financing sources. It also
contains information of projects sought and/or preferred (budget range, genre
and package status), plus information on who owns the company, with whom is
making deals, highlighted projects, preferred submission process, general notes
and AFMA membership (if available and applicable.)
AMA also includes references on
the company, as well as if we have identified our
“six-degrees-of-separation-or-less” to the contact. Using all this information
AMA rates each company from 10 (best) to 0 (worst) as well as “blank” (for
those companies that not enough references has been as yet gathered.)
The database is available either
as a complete set of all companies included, as a customized set matching a
particular project or as a single page with the information of one company. It
is offered in hard copy, in a binder or via fax. Below is a sample of one page
of the guide.
