July 26: Just back from vacation -- a trip to Niagara and other parts of Ontario, Canada. We survived it in one piece, but -- we are missing a few pieces! Eddap lost some of the things he brought with him along the way (I warned him he packed too much, remember?) and so we played some tunes this week about losing things (favorite toys, teeth, pants!). Eddap also wanted to spin some tunes about bossy parents -- or, in his case, travel companions, so we played a number of "Don't" songs. The PaddyTales storytime featured "Theodore Turtle" who always loses stuff, then feels very clever when he finds it again. We also welcomed a sponsor to the All-Ages Show, hedgehogbooks.com. It's a great site, check it out. Here's the playlist: Trout Fishing in America - "It's Gone" - It's a Puzzle (to be released in Sept.) Fred Koch - "I Lost My Tooth - This Lil Cow Barry Louis Polisar - "I Lost My Pants" - Teachers' Favorites Jessica Harper - "Lizzie's Do's and Don'ts - Inside Out Eddie Coker - "Don't" - Wow Danna Banana - "Don't Touch the Glasses" - Bananappeal Louis Del Bianco - "That's What My Mamma Says" - A Little Bit Clumsy --------- Story: "Theodore Turtle" by Ellen MacGregor -------- original song: "Theodore Turtle" Carrie Lyn and Michael Bannett - "Anything You Can Do" - Friends Forever Rick Scott - "You Make Me Happy" - Philharmonic Fool James Brown -"Get on the Good Foot" - A Child's Celebration of Soul Big Happy House - "Happy Go Lucky Shoes" - Imaginary Motorplane Judy and David - "Sole Woman" - Livin' in a Shoe Duncan - "Blame it on the Matchstick" - Love and Safety Club
July 19: We were on vacation, but I hope you tuned in anyway because Thomas, who normally does a program called the "Worried Waltz" filled in and he always has loads and loads of fun music to play.
July 12: It was our last show before taking a week off for vacation, so Edapp and I played some tunes about vacationing -- including more than one about how SOME travelers (are you reading this, Eddap?) get impatient on the road and keep asking, "Are we there yet? Are we there yet?") The PaddyTales story this week was "The Day Drofus the Dragon Lost His Head," by Bill Peet, so we spun some Dragon songs and tunes about Drofus' unusual eating habits (He was a vegetarian). Here's a list of songs we played: MFLP Singers - Surfin' Safari - Catch a Wave Dave Fry - Tropical Vacation - I Like Peanut Butter Baby Music Boom - Are We There Yet? - Liquid Records sampler Jessica Harper - Too Much Snow in Tokyo - Rhythm in my Shoes Tom Chapin - Big Rock Candy Mountain - Great Big Fun Jamie Broza - Are We There Yet? - Bad Mood Mom Parachute Express - What Will I take to the Moon - Happy to be Here Judy Pancoast - Are We There Yet? - KidPop! ---------- PaddyTales story: "The Day Drofus the Dragon Lost His Head" (written by Bill Peet) --------- Billy Jonas - Nine-Foot Dragon and a Four-foot Boy - What Kind of Cat Are You? July 5: It was the day after Independence Day so we Yankee-doodled around with some patriotic songs, and just some songs about red things, white things and green things (just kidding -- we mean Blue things, of course). The PaddyTales story was "Lentil" in tribute to its author and illustrator, Robert McCluskey, who died earlier in the week. The story takes place in a typical American town (circa mid-20th century) and features a parade, a military bigshot and a boy who saves his community by playing the harmonica. That put us in the mood for some train songs and harmonica songs. Here's the playlist: Killer Cadet Band - Stars and Stripes Forever - Celebration of America Woody and Arlo Guthrie - This Land is Your Land - This Land is Your Land Two of a Kind - Red, White and Blue - Friends Little Texas - Big Country - Celebration of America Broadway Kids - I've Been Everywhere - Sing America Stevensongs - United States of the Blues - Stevensongs Dan Zanes and Lou Reed - What a Wonderful World - Nighttime Kit and Kaboodle - Yankee Doodle - Off the Wall Dave Rudolf - Hysterical History: Ben Franklin - Stupendously Silly Skits, Songs and Stories Jonathan Sprout - Ben Franklin - American Heroes ---- PaddyTales storytime: Lentil by Robert McCloskey ---- Original song: Lentil Asa Martin and the Cumberland Rangers - Coming Around the Mountain - Land of Yahoe Ella Jenkins - Freight Train Blues - Seasons for Singing Dog's New Clothes - The Train - Waiting for the Moon Bill and Joe Carey - Ol' Engineer Will - The Caboose is Loose James Coffey - Counting Those Railroad Cars - My Momma was a Train Wayne from Maine - One-Ton Tomato - Man in the Moon James McDermott - Little White Shoes - I Am Baby Rick Hubbard - Nothing but the Blues - ... and his all-star kids kazoo band Paquito d'Rivera - America the Beautiful - Americanos original reprise - Lentil
