Sold to National, Regional, Local Media
Sold literally thousands of articles and stories to national, regional, and local media since 1978. Authored one nonfiction book and have work in three others. Helped start five publications as founding editor. Served as editor of five different city magazines (four in Charlotte and one in Beaufort, SC). Can teach what I know. Take professional quality 35mm photographs and I can use graphics and professional publishing software.
My extensive work for periodicals ranges from a decade long retainer contract with OMNI (1980-92) to produce monthly Continuum items and other stories long and short, to repeated features in top circulation magazines from Modern Maturity ("Torch of 1,000 Suns," 1987, "It Came From Space," 1988) to Playboy.
Wrote extensively about business, media, art, music, festivals, dance, and food for a succession of Charlotte publications, beginning in the early 1980s and fulltime during most of the 1990s. Wrote a monthly arts/events previews and reviews column for Charlotte's Best Magazine from 1993-8 ("About Town"), along with interviews of major city figures in government, banking, retail and entertainment, as Editor at Large.

Co-wrote a seafood cooking column from 1985-92 in the national magapaper, Underwater USA.
Wrote Media column for a variety of Charlotte publications, starting with Charlotte Magazine in the 1980s which resulted in months of daily talk radio debate.

Science and Technology Writing
I have extensive experience covering business, science and technology for publications that include: OMNI, Longevity, Science Digest, Next, Future, Impact, books, a planetarium, general interest publications such as Modern Maturity, and for the several online technology news services such as National Journal's Tech Daily, Localtechwire.com, and LocalBusiness.com (dbusiness.com). The later, from 1999 to 2001 gave me extensive online writing and research skills.
Adjunct lecturer, news writing, for the University of North Carolina Journalism School at Chapel Hill, and UNCC English department in Charlotte, a "free university" called "Super U," in Charlotte, and privately, with considerable success helping students sell major media, including Redbook, OMNI, and the NYTimes Book Review.
