In society today many children do not know the origin of many of their clothes, other than the mall. Farming is almost a lost art in itself. To experience how the proccess of something as simple as clothing was accomplished and the knowledge of what people endured to be clothed is a neccesity in to appreciate what clothing is today. There are only 50,000 alpacas in the United States. Alpacas are raised strictly as non-slaughter fiber animals in the U.S.. In their country of origin, South America, alpacas are as the buffalo was to the Native American Indians. A source of everything. Many of the original techniques are still used to cloth the people in their native country who raise them today.
