A bit more about me...
I have 3 children, who range from age 5 to 16.
Julie is my oldest child at age 16!
Tyler, my only son and middle child, turned 8 in May of this year.
Ashley is now 5 years old.
They keep me and my husband, Jeff, busy!
Jeff works as a Paramedic, and I am a stay-at-home mom.
I enjoy being at home with my children, although in the past, I worked a volunteer Emergency Med. Tech. and also an aide in a hospital.
One of the things I enjoy most is helping people. I believe that when people are going through rough times in their lives, they are being shown how to help others and learning to have empathy for those in similar situations.
As a recovered alcoholic with almost 9 yrs. of sobriety, it is important for me to keep this in mind.
Three years ago, my son Tyler was diagnosed with Fetal Alcohol Effects (FAE).
This was caused by my drinking while carrying him.
(see my BIRTH MOM PAGE-link above!)
Its painful to talk about how my son has a birth defect
that I myself caused.
It makes alot of people uncomfortable,
Especially those who won't take the time to get to know me, and those who become hostile to think that I harmed my child.
But I won't stop talking about it-you know why?
Because the people I've helped far outnumber those who can't accept me for who and what I am...
If you look at the surface, I'm an awful mommy--
I drank while pregnant!
But I also got sober while pregnant.
And I am raising my children to be sober-
to say NO
to drugs and alcohol.
I'm fighting for my son in school to make sure they give him
the education he deserves. That fight won't go away...
I'm fighting to banish the taboo behind female alcoholics and the children they raise...
And, then I help others!
Help other moms and dads fight their battles with the schools -
help them, when they want help, getting sober and staying sober -
help them through the pain and sense of loss they feel when learning about this entirely preventable birth defect.
I'm just a human being, like you are.
But, each and every one of us touch lives in ways we can't always comprehend -
simply by
BEING THERE...
by following God's prompting, sometimes without knowing
why we are doing it.
Those are the moments we are all heroes!
I didn't always believe that-
Not until I started hearing from people who needed and wanted to hear what I have to say...
FAS/E is a PREVENTABLE birth defect. Along with neurological deficits, such as Mental Retardation, a whole host of other problems can occur when women drink during their pregnancy. Remember to visit my Birth Mom page to learn more about this!
Abstinence from alcohol while pregnant is the ONLY way to stop FAS/E!
With your help in spreading the word about FAS/E we can prevent it!
Here are some links which helped me in the learning/accepting process once I found out my son's diagnosis.

If you have questions about the disease of alcoholism, please feel free to email me.
If you are trying to conceive, quit drinking now.
If you are pregnant and have already drank, stop now.
If you need help getting a diagnosis for your child, or are afraid to get a diagnosis because you know you drank, remember that the only way to help our children is to learn about their unique disability and educate others!

Ya'know...I waited and waited for the wolf counter to be fixed and it just didn't happen...
so I had to start over! This number should be around, 2000 or so...
But it will be again I am sure!!
