Biography
My name is Deborah (Pelletier) Tajmajer. I am a Connecticut native. Yet, like most people my roots extend elsewhere. As far back as I can remember, I wanted to learn more about what comprised “my” past. My family always talked of folk that were somewhere else. Family vacations involved visiting relatives in other states. Maps were definitely a basic tool for us. The trips were exciting adventures. Before long, I discovered that social studies classes were not just about lists of names and dates. Classrooms were filled with stories, ideas, and places to explore. Historical accounts rang with the familar chronicles I had heard from my distant relatives as well as my parents. In college, I was able to engage in various social science courses and to that end I majored in history.
The courses have afforded me an insider's track to life-long learning opportunities with ways to apply this knowledge to my own family research. I have been able to share my family history projects with extended family members. Over the years, I have also been able to locate many “new” cousins. In turn, we have shared stories. I was thrilled to be able to trace and document my lineage to ancestors of the American Revolution and the Mayflower, 1620. Now as Registrar of my DAR Chapter, I assist prospective members with their genealogy and lineage paper work. And I extend my expertise to assist clients with their family history and connect them with the past. Click here to read comments.
