Angel In My Cup
Angel In My Cup
Invitation
Take a moment
Escape for a time
Leave yourself and your thoughts
Somewhere where they'll be safe, secure
No need to be demure
Escape and flow into
This place and time I bid you
View life from these eyes for awhile
Seize the energy of this smile
Walk for at least a mile
Inside this heart inside.
Feel the feelings
See all shades of colors
Pale moon blue
To indigo blue hues
All seen within this scene
Of sparkling waters shimmering
Beneath the starry skies above you
Escape for awhile
From the stress and strain
The pain that you feel
See with these eyes calmed by the peace of knowing
Feel warmed by this love now showing
Given freely and completely
As you trace a pattern of footsteps
On this beach of timeless sand.
Smell the sense of it
Dwell, tell of the scent of it
And know that you may visit
At any time, from any place
Simply place yourself inside the tide
Of the gentleness that resides
Within, begin and simply let it flow
Around and through
Surround and embrace all of you
Throw fears and follies to the skies
See life from these eyes
Know this sea of calm and quietude
That exudes from every pore …
And more … grew from a simple seed of love
That has blossomed and borne fruit
For all to share.
So relax, breathe a gentle breath
Heave a heartfelt sigh
Don't question why,
Simply try
Leave your troubles at the gate
Know it's never too late
To swim upon this shore
To knock upon the door
No need for hopin'
It's always open
Enter in and begin to know
This peace called love.

Words Written in a Gazebo
Mimic and string together
Words brought by another
Caught from some other
Elegant and sweet
So neat and concise
Making you think twice
About what it was
That was said
What it was that you meant.
Words from God
Heaven sent
To rise from nothing
And onto paper burn
Burning word into heart and mind
And in kind
Helping you to learn
What was meant
From words
Heaven sent
We all have our gifts
We all have our ways
A phrase or a line
To show you a sign
That Love is here
And forever remains
No strains or chains
To place upon your heart
You start to wriggle
And writhe with delight
A feeling so right
That trees sing in the wind
And birds sigh on the breeze
Sounds of contentment
That only God's Love can surpass.
Swept away with the joy of His Love
(Always unconditional as Love truly is)
Swept away and taken to places
To spaces never seen or dreamt …
Timeless times, no energy spent
Basking in the light of this forever moment
You transcend your reality
And live a dream of life.
Conscious and aware
No worry or care
You sing the song of the wind
And sigh the sigh of the breeze
Pleasingly pleased
And then you begin …
… drifting off to the sound
Of words brought by another
Caught from some other
You sweetly dream
Content and calm and truly at peace
Knowing now what was meant
By sweet words
Heaven sent
To you from the One who Loves!

Collected: Thoughts for a Rainy Day
Spirit rise with the tide of life
Let joy soar to the heavens above
Bringing you closer to the light
Of your eternal soul.
Smile now as you remember
What you already knew,
That life is but a journey into joy
A passion that knows no boundaries
That reaches out to touch us all
In its oh so warm embrace.
For it is here that you discover you
And all that we're all ready to be …
Simply us simply,
Nothing but nothing
That which has no fear,
Only a deep and abiding faith
In all that is all
And all that can possibly be imagined.
Here and now
Forever into these and other lives
Lived as intensely, but not as sincerely
As the life which faces you now.
So escape into silence and solace,
Warm your heart with the love
Of deeper knowing
And growing as you will and must
A living trust
Between and among
The One and the many
The souls of all and you …
Will be complete
In the Universal Love
That guides and designs
What we truly want to achieve.
Now and forever, in essence
And in presence,
We are but truly one.

Clarity
Clarity of vision
Clarity of heart
Where to for this new beginning
Where indeed to start
Life so strange
At times so unreal
Your secrets, your truths
I need to reveal
The dreams you lend
At best I can only pretend
To decipher meaning from rhyme
Your pictures sublime
Cloudy, confused,
Direction never clear or direct
A method needed to define and select
What it is you need to tell
On what it is you need to dwell
Sing of clarity, strong not weak
Very pointed and not oblique.
So on this thought, this nascent dream
Clarity now must reign supreme
An answer … a calmness
All things serene
No judgement, no bell
No strings, no things
To tie you … to all farewell
No time …
Just well Being for all
And all will be well
Clarity of vision
Clarity of faith, belief
Sincerity of clarity
Sweet feeling, relief

Counterpoint
Morning light,
Wisps of white
In a peach pink sky,
The dawn of a new reality …
Clouds gazing down from above
And you up from below
Each sees the other
From their own perspective
From their own set of beliefs
Each dreams of being the other
And the other wishes they could be
As the other.
How far apart we are
They say, they think in their own way
How so very different
They feel, they believe
Yet how so very much alike …
Composed of moisture
Ever changing in their flight
The shape of future changes
All stored within
To be able to fly high and far
As spirit does when love does reign
Both shed tears, it's all so plain.
When angered by fears
Or by frictions height
They spark and thunder and roll
And then … respite
Quiet and calm
Both alive and breathing in their way
Shape-shifting shamans
Cast shadows on the land beneath their path
And for another day
They soar and sail
In the cup of God's
Holy Grail.
Traveling alone or together through space
Each has its own reason
Each has its own grace
To be free to be
Together as one in the face
Of all manner of time
To chase away
All manner of doubt
Different yet the same
All gifts from above
All gifts of love
From the one who fills
Wing and sail
With His breath
This breath of life.
Morning light or twilight
Or at the height of the sun's ascent
Our own ways are lent to the other
Taking a page
From the other's book
We look and we feel as opposites
We posit and propose
Possibilities in this prose
All of this throws new perspective
On our stance and pose
And skews our views
And the light reflected from our skin
Reveals the truth that hides within …
Living as the other we can only be
But one.

Songbird
Misty meadow, morning
Sky still pink
The sounds of morning fill the air
Songbirds sing so sweet
The melody comforting and calm
Singing patiently, profoundly
Waiting for their special one
To hear, draw near
To meet and greet.
Songbirds sing together
Now one, complete.
Misty meadow morning
Dew upon the grass
The songs of morning
The songs of new life.
A cry for sustenance
A cry of hunger satisfied
Fledglings, beginnings
First steps toward flight
Soon take wing and fill the air
Soaring, sailing
Each and every one
Unique, precious, rare.
Misty meadow morning
Sky still pink
Dew upon the grass
Sweet sounds, savored …
Your place of peace at last
Embracing sound and spirit,
Lungs fill and thrill
To the taste of the fragrance of flowered
Fresh morning air.
Breathe the breath
Sing the song
Belong to all you see (and don't)
Belong to all you hear (and don't)
And importantly, most especially
Belong to the All of All
Unseen and unheard
Yet precious in your heart
And if you do (or don't)
His Love will fill you too
(Oh yes it will)
The song, the breath
New life and more
To soar on wing
And to bring
All things left unsaid
But felt so near
So clearly heard
This word of love.
And now to end
In all its glory
This simple story
Told to me
By songbirds sung
On this misty meadow morning
Dawn and dew
And you.
Bill Somerville April 1999
Flower
Flower of the morning
You brighten my day
Flower of my spring
You grow with me each passing day
To see the stars
And to count the hours
'Til the time we can be together
Once again.
Stay with me this day,
In forests of emerald green
Or fields of wind blown grass.
Here we are,
Here we stay,
For this moment,
For this summer's day
Taking in the sun
And breathing in all the freshness
Around us, it surrounds us
With a vitality and a feeling
Not seen save in a dream.
Flower of my morning
Flower of this spring
Grow with me and be happy.
For the knowing of each other
The sharing of each other
Brightens each of our days.
One for the other
Flower of my life
I am yours.

Sun Shine Child
Sunshine child
Pearlescent smile
Beaming rays of light to all
Brighter than the light
Of a thousand suns.
Although simple in your way
Each day with you
Is a special one.
Your happiness extends
To skies reaches
Heaven's beaches
Boundless and free.
Judgements ne'er pass your path
Secure you are in your joy
And your only thought is one …
To share your bliss …
Just this … your love.

In Stones
Sound of the water
On the Sound,
Crashing lightly, purposefully
Wave after foam crusted wave
Washing over gravel and rock
Washing over sand and stone …
His footsteps sure and careful
Maintaining balance
Maintaining the vigil
Looking for the thing he seeks
Amidst the chaos and chameleons
Hiding on the beach.
Sea shell, sea smell
Salt and spray and sun.
Clouds passing overhead
Shield the rays, the field ablaze
With sparkles, baubles dried by the sun.
Tide rushing out, life gushing in,
A gull heard, it's shout a word
A cry to all
Fish and mussel, a tussle
And the winner flies away with the prize.
Another morsel, a bit of nothing
Upon which to feed
And on he walks,
Freed from thought
Just intent and purpose plain.
The gaze, piercing and loving both
As he examines each and every pebble
Color, hue … shimmering blue
Mussel shells, each piece tells
Of battles won and lost
Gulls prey smashed open, tossed
From the sky to below
To feast on the scrap of sustenance within
The pleasure of the sin
Life ended to tend to another …
And so on and on it goes.
Life's throes and time grows silent
In the moment of discovery.
For there among the boulder bits
Sea shells and purple flower bells
The treasure sits and waits
He hesitates and then picks out the thing
For which he seeks, his silence speaks
In volumes and more
For there he sees what he's so long looked for
In stones he finds the perfect shape
A heart so pure and lovingly carved
By water washing over countless days
Countless ways that brought you both
To this beach,
You reach out … and reach within
Holding your treasure close
You can almost hear the murmur of its soul
Beating within, senses give in
To this speck of granite
Heart shaped and warm from the sun.
And for a moment
He thinks of no other
For this indeed is the one
Nothing else could be
Yet as he walks away
His intensity dimmed
He begins to notice that there
Amongst the gravel and stone
Is another rock oddly shaped
Yet heart-like nonetheless
Perhaps not as perfect as the one he clutched
But it too could be said
Even in his head
That this one too was like the first …
And now the thirst begins
In earnest the search takes on new life
The more he looks
The more he sees
Imperfect yet there is another
And another
So closely he looked
Yet so little did he see
A million hearts to grasp and cherish
All there before him
All within reach
And the sea crashes in again
And wakes senses
Here alone on this beach of rock and stone.
Countless hearts beneath his feet
Some having hearts within hearts
Sculpted and carved by nature's trials
Yet each with its own beauty and tale
How came we all
To being and more
So much to see here on this shore.
Away from it all
To hear this call
And be enthralled by miracles
Born of water and tides …
And your insides sated
Elated with the expanse of love now found
Near the sea, on the Sound
Waves crash all around …
This much needed, often unheeded voice
Has spoken,
This heart-shaped thing
No token but a sign which sings
To each of us now
Gather in the crop,
Harvest all that nature has grown here
All that is known and held dear
For this sacred place
Of countless grains of sand,
This blessed trace of land contains
All the bounty that you'll ever need
Hearts in stones
Never alone or far …
Just look and there they are.

Circles
Universe born
From a pinprick of mass
Expanding outwards, solid and gas
Into a darkness forever void
Matter congeals to fill
Emptiness with planets and stars …
Sun, Earth, and Moon
In concert act and soon
Four seasons, all reasons in tune.
Spring clouds
Moving gently across the sky
Time for spring showers
Spring flowers
New growth
New life and light.
A time for all reasons
This one of four seasons
A circle … A cycle comes round again.
Meadow pond beneath
This spring's first rain
First drop falling
Drawn to the water below
Water to water
Water to life
Life to life
Then back to water again
Cycles, circles all
First drop, first moments
A ring, a circle
Forms and spreads out
On a surface of glass
Reaching outwards to pond's edge
Another drop, another circle
A circle within a circle
Reaching out,
Concentricity, synchronicity begins …
A word, a song catches an ear,
A question answered, a mystery ends.
A stranger's smile and in a while,
Another enters your circle of friends.
Random guided chance,
Sacred happenstance.
A sign, a circle
Another link to within
Concentricity, synchronicity begin …
Eyes and iris
Color and light
Center of soul
Center of life.
A circle, a sign
Of aliveness and spirit
Reaching out
Gazing outward and upward
Concentricity, synchronicity moving forward …
Hands reach out to hold another
Those hands reach out in turn
To hold some other
Three now linked … now in synch.
Allow another into the trinity …
Four, then five … now onward into infinity …
Triangle, square … now a circle
Expanding outwards and upwards
Concentricity, synchronicity extends and bends the universe!
Other circles, other signs
Inner circles, inward, aligns
Round table meeting
Pow-wows round fires bright
Spirit calls knight and brave alike
Circles of friends
Wedding and moon rings
Anything you can imagine
Sings of concentricity, synchronicity all.
As we expand, take another by the hand.
Into this circle drawn
A willing participant, never a pawn.
Inclusive, never exclusive
Turn enemy to friend … all hatred to end
And love will grow
Outwards and upwards to the heavens above …
And to think it could Be …
Blessed concentricity, synchronicity began with a single drop of rain.

Rainbow
White, bright
Point source of light …
The source of the point.
Spectrally bound, encased within
A palette of colors and thoughts profound.
Sunlight and rain
The sight now plain
A blazing display of color replete
The breathtaking band now complete
A rainbow kisses the sky,
This transformed light
And reveals all that was hidden within
And to all of those who wait without.
The path now clear
The way illumined in your sight
Convoluted though it seemed,
Now plain, now right.
All the simple songs you heard
The simple dreams you saw
That simply revealed the word …
Guided by wizards and warlocks of yore
Guided by spirit beings and by so much more,
God has finally opened the door
The goodness, the joy
The will and desire to bring
Sunlight through the rain
To now reveal
This cosmic rainbow,
This cosmic thing.
Ride the cosmic rainbow
Ride the wind of color and thought
The love, the hope
Boundless joy and peace
Increase the knowing and growing
To all that you speak.
Guided by the love in your heart
Ride the cosmic rainbow of Universal Life.
Know that the light of the One contains
A multitude of colors and thoughts
Of spirits and their compassion
Of Their love, Their light.
Can he tell me
Can he know
Of the faith, the energy flow
Unbounded and free
Now coursing through
From Him to me
To share the rainbow, this cosmic thing
To see the light
The answer, no questions remain.
To thank you tonight,
Each and every day
To follow the way
The path, the words to say …
To pray that I love.
Cosmic rainbow,
You've carried me home
Head and heart now filled with joy
Carried me to where I belong
To now sing the song
The words, the tune now in place
A smile of peace crosses your face, a
Melody
And then
To sing the song of God in my heart
And you as well … please …
Sing the song of God in your heart
Sing it loud and strong
Voice timbred and sweet
Sing a song of God in your heart
A song of trust and love
Sing the song with strength of spirit
A song filled with the spirit of life
A harmony of peace,
A chorus of joy
Sing the song of God in your heart
And the song's name is Love.

I Seize the Light
Gathered 'round fires bright
Burning embers and flames delight
Sending sparks and flares
Brightening even the darkest night
Fears formerly felt
Dispelled at the brightness of the light
Injecting new found hope
Into the visions now seen
By only sight.
Torches flame in stone walled halls
Passages flickering and filled
With pale orange and yellow light
Shadows dark and dreary
Eliminated by brightness cheery
Lighting the way, no stumbling this day
For these flames that flicker and burn
Illuminate every winding and turn
Ahead, instead of darkness,
No blindness … you see!
Candle wick and wax
A flame dances and tracks
The motion of your lover's play
Eyes beckon and shine
Bringing sweet ecstasy divine
By the pale light of its shimmer and shake
Passion awakes and within resides
And you both
Ebb and flow with the tides
'Til fiery fury subsides
And once again calmness returns
By light of the tallow which burns
As a flame of love in your heart.
Molten steel, aware of its heat
You feel it from the safety of distance
Reddish orange glare,
A flare of fireworks, the display unrehearsed
Bits of molten metal burst
Out and into the open air
The molten mass
Flowing and free
Eventually cools and
Takes its shape
Once fluid now firm
Atoms excited now rest
Passing the test
Of baptismal fire and stress
To now caress …
The newly formed you …
Flames and flickers
Tallow and steel
Sights that you've seen
Not so unreal.
How is it that you can see this light?
How is it that you can't see His light?
Sights that you've seen
Viewed only by eyes can't be complete.
For sweet new beginnings, and a true fresh start
Everything you've seen
Upon this path you tread
Must be viewed instead by the heart …
So embrace me, take me
I am now Yours …
Reside, inside
Always and forever more.
The light that beckons and burns
Returns as you romp and revel
In the warmth of this glimmering cascade
Whose flow never ceases
Whose depth only increases
As you bathe and simply dwell
In the heart of His holy Love.

Rah Ji Nah (Luna Bleu)
Narcotic, hypnotic
Brown eyes, exotic face
That fills your skies
Seeing a vision of sparkle and light
Within your sight, surrounded in brown
Windows of the eyes,
Pupils black that simmer with life
With joy, delight.
They expand and contract
With sun and star energy bright
They pulsate and shine
And flow into your soul
Flow into twin black holes
Of endless mystery and mass
Totally absorbed by their sight
Your thoughts travel through
And into all that lies within.
Their celestial pull
Draws you into and within
The universe of her being,
Over and through to the other side
Where you truly reside ...
I'm there now
I'm where you are now
I'm me but I'm not
I'm free but I'm not
To choose this path
Upon which I now gallop and trot
Tireless as I run through verdant green
Misty steam
Dressed in feathers and straw
Now as native on this jungle path.
Sights familiar yet oh so strange
Strange yet familiar sun overhead
Shines through tropical canopied sky
Running at a pace comfortable yet swift
Carrying a spear, a paternal gift
Heading briskly for the place
Where the hunt will begin.
Things are different, though they feel the same
The music of the space alive and sweet
Sounds of a trumpeting bird
Another that sounds like a flute.
On the trail, footfalls
Drumbeats in time despite the heat ...
And then all is suddenly silent
A twig snaps nearby
Causing you to stop and trace
What lies hidden in the jungle green.
T'was then you saw the place
Where she stood and gazed back
Ending your race and changing your intent ...
Narcotic, hypnotic
Brown eyes, exotic face
A maiden of these tropic woods
Just there hidden from view
Now staring at the wonder of you
As you do too.
Thoughts of the hunt recede
Eye to eye
Now locked in a warm embrace.
Recognition, cognition as you slowly approach
Each other, not quite familiar
Yet you know each other by sight.
Senses reeling and a feeling now shared by two
Narcotic, hypnotic
Her eyes fill your skies
It's only she that matters
Her sighs that scatters thought and mind
To the scirroco wind ...
Together now in your needs
Sharing all that two can
Rivers flow, love sharing, caring
You both now know of treasures rare
Souls bared in the moment
Of passion unspoken
The silence of the jungle broken
By the cry of passion sated
Two elated at the touch
Of each other's skin
Passions roar within
You clutch and you ignite
In each other's delight ...
Narcotic, hypnotic
Brown eyes that fill your thoughts,
Your skies, time flies
Both lost in elation, sensation ...
And then you awaken
Taken back to the universe you know
Reverie, dream
A sight never to be forgotten
Once seen lives forever in your skies,
For her eyes of brown and exotic face
Now interlace with your soul
Making heart race
And your own eyes smile
For in awhile
All that you feel and have felt
Will once again be real
As you sail once again
To the heart that beats within
The one ... hypnotic, narcotic
Lost in those eyes that will always fill your skies.

Majic
Magic, fantastic
Dreams of fairy dust and wishing rings
We must just tarry and tell
Of this place, this grace wherein we dwell.
Mystical, phenomenal
Apparitions of light and joy
Ghostlike, the spectre floats and foretells
Of sights, sounds, sensations born
From the womb of pale moon light.
The spell cast
At last your last pretense
Shed with the birth of hope and heart
This part of earth, of fairy rings
And spritely things
All seen with the eyes of the mind.
Taken in by the incantation
Your fascination funnels you from
Here to there
No boundaries of time
Sublime, the theme a living dream
More in store
Just cast your soul to the wind.
You float and play
Inside a fiery display of revelation
Contemplation and fascination
Of elves, of selves lived in universes
Far on the edges of galaxies unknown
Whirling on the swirls of celestial dust
That swim in your ecstasy of discovery
From times forever, beyond and away,
You glide on the tides and swells
Of star canopied skies
Illogic flies in the face of reality
And then … you see that you are.
As one like the sun
A burning ball of incendiary silence
Simmering and shooting
Flares and snares, loops and hoops
Of engulfing energy
Star power, your hour has come
And your pretense of reality
Is gently cast aside
For this incredible new homestead …
Instead of lost and tossed
Around and about
Purpose deserted, totally disconcerted
It's your lightness, your brightness that now transcends
This unending blend of spirit and self
Has made its presence known.
No longer tragic, this stronger charm of magic
Has transformed and adorned you with
A halo of hope, given you wind for your wings,
A voice that sings of the fantastic …
This is the magic of You.
William Ashe Somerville July 19, 1999
Feeling Is Believing
Sitting quietly in your place
Sun's rays beam down
From heaven's core
Searing rays from space
That can penetrate skin
And sear you within …
Intensity strong
Wondering if you belong
You sit and wonder of it all.
Sheltered from the blazing sun
Protected from uncontrolled energy's harm
You sit and ponder of life's call.
The sun's rays burn down
And leave you unscathed
While all else dries up in this desert space
This deserted trace of land,
An expanse that goes on and on
Horizon to horizon
Whiteness, brightness,
Your lightness is awesome to extreme
And yet all you feel is warmth
In the coldness of this arctic field
That looms all around you
Surrounding all in your sight.
Things are not as they sometimes seem.
Words deceive, making you believe
In things that bring you to your knees.
Heat can be cold,
And cold searing hot to extreme.
The breath you breathe,
Felt or seen,
Gentle in its touch.
Warm, serene
A mystery, then serenity,
Its hold tenuous yet strong
Letting you know, letting you grow
Telling you … You belong.
Tethered to this forever
Your sight says cold
Yet you feel the heat of the sun.
The energy flows controlled
Universal it grows
Within, you begin
To understand, to know …
He's here, She's here
It simply depends on your point of view.
Things are as they seem.
A melding, a welding
You've taken census of your senses …
You've been sent the sense
Of time's endless flow.
Feeling is believing,
A weaving of scent and sensation.
Your nostrils fill with the smell
Of roses sweet …
She's here, He's here
Heaven rents, heaven scents replete
Sends its message complete.
Seeds sown, oh how you've grown …
Hand warmed by the cross,
Your loss filled not once, but twice
With an overwhelming joy
A peace, a love … strong …
Telling you … You belong!
Filling you with words
That onto paper flow
Helping others to grow
With Her and with Him
Not a dream or a whim.
Trimmed and pruned
Now groomed and tuned to spread,
To fill your head
With only one thing …
A hymn of love to sing
To Her …
The Lady of the Rose.
William Ashe Somerville June 3, 1999
Little Wonder
Barely imperceptible
The tiny baby's voice
Pierces the dry evening air
Gentle cries
The glow of its bright blue eyes,
It kicks and spits and coos
In time and in tune
To a sound only it can hear.
It's trappings meager,
Yet it seems so eager, to plot,
To want to speak to all within earshot
To the place wherein
He sits and takes all of this in …
Dry, cool evening air …
He could be anywhere.
The place he lays
Within the humble shelter he stays,
He agitates and cogitates
Who next upon to gaze,
Who next to set ablaze
With the indecipherable syllables he says,
Fragments of speech he mouths …
Seeds to plant, he sows, voice grows
Ever slightly in volume
The lone column of his home trembles ever so,
Barely so,
As he rocks and shakes
The world he sees
Almost as if to say
Please, listen to my words,
Gather them in and keep them dear …
Please … hear me
For I … am Here!
Tiny hands, teeny tiny feet
So sweet
All you want to do
Is nibble on them
As he dribbles out syllables
Thoughts profound yet incomplete
Cooing and mewing
To the scintillating star that now shines overhead
His mother, exhausted yet elated
Thanks her God
For the blessing of her new born son …
Wrapped in close, warm in her soulful love.
And with the universal fire
Burning in his bright blue eyes
The skies open up in wonder,
Thunder tears across the heavens
As if to say
He's special … he belongs to us all.
Yet the child is but a waif.
In swaddling clothes
He kicks and spits and …
Yet he knows what he's about
There is no doubt
In his mind
Fresh and clean and free of fear
He knows no demon,
He owes no debt
All he does and is … is love.
In this precious package here,
So near to us all
This brand new soul
To give his gift to the world
To lift our spirits
Higher than high
Greater than great
Elate in the knowing
That he is here for us all.
Looking at his face
Seeing the joy and smile bright
His eyes flash open and look
At you, they go through you
And you get a sudden sense
Of sadness passing
Almost as if this diminutive thing
Had a glimpse of its future fate …
Too late, the moment gone
And this fidgeting, floundering
Bundle of love,
Eyes burning with universal fire
Seem suddenly heavy,
Suddenly close
For he knows what must be done
In the years to come
To preach, to teach, to reach us
All before we get to hear
The words one day he'll say so clearly
Gather strength my little love and be blessed
Before the test, sleep my love just sleep.
Good night little love
Rest up for the coming battles
The heavy burdens you'll be saddled
With, problems we each and all must face
As we all so blissfully unawares race
Ahead, but for now, instead
Simply take a whiff
And smell the life around you now …
Cattle, sheep
Hay and candle wax
Incense burning … myrhh …
And your mother holds you in her arms
As she does all of us today …
Good night sweet baby
Goodnight our gift from God
And your name, oh yes your name …
Oh how we love you
Good night sweet baby Jesus
Your love, our love … sleep tight
I love you baby Jesus … Good night.

A Kiss From God
Silence, still
A gentle breeze to fill
Heart and mind
Unwind and thrill
For this moment blessed
Touched by the heart
Of God Himself.
In silence, still
A pastoral scene
A touch of soft …
Pristine pond
Butterfly wing, senses sing
Fragile flower, tender zephyr wind
By water's edge
The sweet, sweet smell …
Lungs swell and you swim
In this earthy delight.
Sun gives way to eventide
A blazing band of fireflies
Luminous emerald green
Swarm and sparkle into the night,
Star blanket
White and shimmer shine
Flicker and fire
Bright in the night
Aspirations, inspirations
Of desire and sight
Sapphire blue, ruby red
Quivering quicksilver, golden glimmers, …
Reflections dappled, dance
On the rippling waters of continuance ...
The sliver slice of a cool orange moon
Resting low in the autumn sky
The warmth and light of the blazing sun
Reflecting back , tempered,
By space, distance and time.
Cascades of heaven's clear rain
A blink and you think
Of nothing more …
A spectral palette of colors
From which to choose
Countless hues of each
That reach 0ut,
Amaze and amuse.
Translated to taste
Indigo grape, Cherry red,
Yellow gold lemon
Lime, bright forest green …
Their shades shimmer sheen
And their flavors
Taste crisp and clean
On the palate of your soul.
Peaceful wind and drizzle rain
Eucalyptus, pine
Lavender, rose
Embellished by the scent of water's edge
A soothing balm,
Solace for the soul
In silence, still … troubles cease,
And now at peace
You warmly dwell
Bathed in forest and flower smell ,
Touched and brushed with bliss
Ever gently so,
Tranquil, content …
Blessed by a kiss from God.

Angel In My Cup
Angel in my cup,
Floating on and in
A sea of leaves,
On and in the waters of life.
Temperatures and consciousness raised
To new levels within,
Savoring sensations
Senses and essences
Seeping and creeping out,
Steeping in the moment
Learning and listening through all
And with all throughout …
Angel in my cup,
Swirling and twirling on the palate
A dance, a pirouette
Sense and sensation
Savoring the flavor of words
Written to smitten
To placate and calm
Grasping words, gripping them
Twice, thrice …
Sipping tazo, chamomile,
Orange-spice …
Jasmine, raspberry
Apricot-peach …
Extending your reach
Out of where you are.
Angel in my cup,
This poet tea, this poetry
A harmony sipped and savored
Blended with the flavor of words
Heard with the ears of the soul
Tasted in kind by the mind
Sweet revelations, sensations
Unwind and awaken
Allow yourself to be taken,
Shaken and stirred
For you've heard the word
Of God's eternal love.

Bill Somerville grew up on the West Side of Buffalo, New York (Italian section), near the Peace Bridge to Canada and 20 minutes from the breathtaking beauty of Niagara Falls. As a child, he had an intense interest and fondness for nature and wanted to learn and experience everything about it. His curiosity was consumed by science and he wanted to use his creativity to do scientific research, which eventually became his career. His deep fascination in wanting to learn about God, science, and nature eventually became the basis of his poetry.
Bill had never been away from Buffalo for an extended period of time. When he went away to college, writing poetry became a way to express feelings and thoughts that emerged with this newly felt isolation from family and friends.
In 1983, he visited the Pacific Northwest, where he felt a strong sense of home. He discovered and experienced the grandness of the scale of nature there. He found that he was able to communicate his passion for the area in both Nature photography and by writing poetry. His poem Flower was inspired by that first visit.
In 1999 he finally moved to that wonderfully inspirational environment. Being away from family and friends brought up emotions that inspirited him to begin writing poetry again. His writing has been motivated by both the grandeur of the scenery of the Pacific Northwest and by the path of his own spiritual growth (reading many books on spirituality). All of this learning has given him a peace and a sense of love in its purest sense. It's something that he feels is important to be shared. His hope is that his poetry communicates to readers the same sense of love that has been given to him.
Bill now lives in Gig Harbor, Washington and has traded his familiar view of the Peace Bridge over the Niagara River for the Tacoma Narrows Bridge on the scenic and invigorating South Puget Sound. Bill said that he never would have left Buffalo had he not felt that same feeling of Home that he gets living in Washington.
