Rocks and minerals offer a wide variety of choices to me as a jewelry designer. Visiting gem and mineral shows gives me the opportunity to choose from personal favorites such as hematite, malachite, rose quartz, rhodocrosite, rhodonite, snowflake obsidian, moss agate and blue lace agate. Gem and mineral shows are a good place to find jewelry point crystals and freshwater pearls. At a recent show put on by the Superior California Gem and Mineral Society in Red Bluff, California I became the proud owner of many of these minerals, including drilled opal chips, and opal rondells. Here are some of the necklaces and earrings I have recently created.
Opal chips, glass Czech pearls and pink glass beads strung on SoftFlex wire.
Jewelry point crystal from Arkansas. Beaded with Delica seed beads in ivory pearl, ruby and gold. Both the necklace strap and the fringe are accented with garnet beads and barrels..
Rhodonite Zuni bear. This necklace is made with rhodonite chips and black glass beads. Accents are silver. Strung on SoftFlex wire.
