What Are These Darn "Lumiline" End Caps, Anyway ??

Offered here are the very rare Leviton brand end caps (also known as "incandescent lampholders" or "clips", for Lumiline tubular incandescent bulbs.

Both deep end (Lev. 476) and shallow end (Lev. 475) caps are now available. Supply is limited.

Lumiline bulbs were popular in kitchens, bathrooms and display cases, and are still valued today for their rich lighting and utility. These Leviton brand lumiline end caps fasten onto either end of the lumiline bulb, and the clip/bulb assembly is inserted into the fixture. Note - some fixtures were designed for the deep end cap variety, some for the shallow. They may not always be interchangeable, so check with your electrician for the proper clip for your application.

Leviton discontinued these clips years ago. Tech support at GE, Leviton and Wiremold will tell you they're OBSOLETE, and to simply replace your fixtures. These clips are IMPOSSIBLE to find...

FAQ:
Are the Leviton 475 and 476 clips interchangeable in all fixtures?
I don't know. The shallow end caps work in my 1959 undercabinet GE fixtures. However that's no guarantee yours will. Some people buy 2 to start with, to make sure. I've heard that the rarer, deep end caps were used in vertically mounted bathroom lamp fixtures. So far, no complaints, but do your research first. Also I've heard that some bulbs don't fit some clips (there were several bulb manufacturers over the years), but I can only tell you my experience, which is that my Leviton 475 clips fit GE bulbs and GE sockets. Lesson here is to buy GE bulbs and save yourself some headaches.

Do you sell bulbs?
No. I was at a Canadian Tire store in BC again this summer and the GE Lumiline 60w 18" bulbs were in stock for about $9C, which is about $6 US. I've seen them in stock every time I've visited a CT store! (They have no clips, however.)

Why won't my clips detach from the spent bulb?
Please research the difference between a "Lumiline I" bulb, which use my clips, and Lumiline II bulbs, formerly made by Sylvania. These "Lumiline II" bulbs had integrated nonreusable end caps; also, they are now extinct, or nearly so. You should easily be able to revert your fixture back to the type I bulbs, but YOU WILL NEED CLIPS. You can still find these bulbs inexpensively if you know where to look. Check with your electrician if you are unsure of your application.
