Hello My Name is Kassandra Ahuero. I am fifteen years old I am A Nineth Grader at Lowry High School In Winnemucca Nevada. I am going to tell you a little about me. For those that do not know me and about my disabilaty I will tell you my story.

I was Born on December 25th 1984 In Austin,Texas. I was 5lbs 2oz. My mom said I came fast,It only took 18 miniutes for me to be deliverd. When I came out the Doctors looked at me and rushed me out of the delivery room. My mom told me that she Got rely scared. It was about two hours later before my mom was allowed to see me. The doctor told her that when I cam out I was all Twisted up , My hands were curled under And my feet were turned in. At that tme my mom was very upset. She asked the doctor what was wrong with me. The doctor said" I think she has a rare condition called Arthrogryposis Multiplex Congentia. It came to be that it was my initial diagnosis. I also had an intestinal blockage as well.

I have the condition named above. This condition is Multible joint contracures that are present at birth. Wich causes the joints to fix in position. I also have Club feet and hands missing muscles and fixed joints that occurs in Arthrogryposis. I have the most common type of Arthrogryposis wich is called Amyoplasia. Arthrogryposis occurs 1 in evry 300,000 live births. Ok now I am going to explain how I overcame some of these obstcacules. First of all the doctor at first said I would not be able to walk. I proved the nice little doctors wrong. I learned how to walk during aggressive Physical Therapy , at Scottish Rite Childrens Hospitial. This Hospitial was in Austin,Texas. I was given very aggresive Therapy that later changed my whole life. I now can walk with the aid of below the knee AFOs and Crutches.

The hospitial I go to now is called Shriners Hospitial For Children. This particular hospitial is in Salt Lake City Utah. There are over 22 of these hospitials that offer Free medical care for disabeld and burned Children. I have to tell you they have Wonderful Doctors that have changed my life.

A lttle about my personality

I am a very easy going person. I like to fing the Greater Good about people. I am a Born Again Christian. I was saved last year. The friend that helped me do this was Christi. She is one of the friends that is helping me to make it through High School. My favorite Bible Verse is Ephesians 2:8-9. My favorite Song that I sing in Chuch is called Blessed Assurance.

I have a wonderful Mother and a Step father , Dallas and Linda Rowley. My mom has been the one that has pushed me in all my battles. I got bummed out last year because I got diagnosed with a condition called Fibromyalgia. It Is a Type of Arthrites that causes chronic pain. It has a lot to do wit not going in to the last stage of sleep wich is the dreaming stage. I try to not let my Disabilaties get the best of me. If I had were would I be now? For Those mothers that has just found out that their child has a disabilaty. A tip of Advice: Do not underestamate your Childs abilaties.

I am in Choir at my High School and I love to sing. That is my talent in life. I want to grow up and be somthing in the Medical feild I am not sure what exatly, I will find somthing that fits me though. I get a 3.9 GPA . For those that think you cant do somthng because you are disabeld you are wrong! The reason why is simple If I cando it so can you don't let any one tell you other wise.
