Colorado Collie Rescue Inc. was founded in the fall of 1992 after realizing that many
Collies in our area were in need of help finding good permanent homes. We are a
family run rescue organization who are active in showing Collies and many dog sports. We have a deep love for ALL Collies, whether show dogs or not. We are funded through adoption fees and private donations. We also network with other Collie Rescue groups throughout the United States and Canada.
The goals of our rescue are as follows:
1) To rescue any purebred Collie from a local shelter if called upon, provide medical care and rehabilitation, if necessary, and to place him/her in a new permanent home.
2) To rescue any purebred Collie found wandering, provide medical care if necessary, seek out the original owners, and place the Collie in a new permanent home if we are unsuccessful in locating the original owner.
3) To take in any purebred Collie directly from an owner who is no longer able to keep the Collie, provide medical care if necessary, and place the Collie in a new permanent home.
4) To provide education to the public about rough and smooth Collies and activities available to them, through Pet Expos, Rescue Showcases, Scottish Festivals, etc.
5) To refer prospective owners to reputable breeders of AKC Collie puppies and retired show dogs, if we do not have anything available to them.
