Late Dreams

Later Dreams
When the dreams ended, Maidenform continued on. Shown here are: an ad from the 1960's, an example from a new ad campaign that ran in the 1980's, "The Maidenform Woman - You Never Know Where She'll Turn Up," and an acid parody of the same campaign. The company's current approach is a no-nonsense, politically correct series of ads aimed at career women. (Be sure to read The Virginian's contribution from the New York Times explaining this new advertising direction.) Their dream has died, at least for now... but ours hasn't!

Above: Slender and sleek, a white underwire and panty girdle in motion.

Above: Three for one... delicate bras and panties that are a far cry from the Maidenform foundations of the 50's and 60's.

Above: Black humor, anyone?
