Web Cams for Astro Imaging
I refer you again to the good folks at QCUIAG for the complete course on this subject, but I can get you started with a short course. With an un-modified camera and the information here, you will be able to start imaging the brighter objects in the sky. The folks at QCUIAG have been pushing the envelope with modifications and can direct you towards more advanced DSO imaging.

Equipment
The preferred camera of choice seems to be the Philips ToUam, with the Vesta Pro coming in a close second. These can be had for under $100. Be sure to get the CCD version, there is a CMOS version which is not nearly as sensative. You will need a laptop with a USB port (or drag out that desktop). Download the software on this page, read Richard Emerson's tutorial and you will be ready to start imaging. There are several ways to attach the webcam, but Richard takes care of that in the tutorial.

Web Cams for Guiding
I have not performed this yet, but you can be on the cutting edge with this device and  some software, which Entienne makes available on his site along with the plans and diagrams for the interface. Parts should not run you more than about $25. Entienne's Web Cam giuding interface.
This is a very detailed step by step procedural short course with links to sites for the necessary freeware. This is an edited version of a post by Richard Emerson from the Yahoo LX-90 egroups forum.
