Jay Antle's Storm Chase Web Page

Welcome to my chase page! My name is Jay Antle and I've been chasing out of Lawrence, Kansas for almost four years now. I'll be posting lots more various images and chase accounts from previous and current storm chases as time permits (and my HTML learning curve improves).  All images copyrighted by Jay Antle and are for personal use only.

Chase Pictures

Mothership from near Wray Colorado: June 2, 1999. For more images
of this storm, click   HERE

June 29, 1999 Supercell near Borger, TX.  This storm began in SE Colorado and produced a large multi-vortex tornado there.  It produced a number of brief tornadoes near Gruver, TX.

This is the meso of the June 29th supercell as it neared Gruver, TX.

This is the F3 Almena, KS Tornado on June 3, 1999 shortly after touchdown.
After reviewing the video of the event, this is actually the second tornado produced
by the storm in a span of several minutes.  This picture has been enhanced for better
contrast.  Note the clear Rear Flank Downdraft here.

Tornadic supercell near Wink, Texas on May 26, 1999.
The feature seen under the updraft base at the background is
likely not a tornado after further review of video.

This is the rope stage of the Columbus Nebraska tornado on June 23, 1998.
Unfortunately, Mike Umscheid and I missed the earlier long-lasting wedge.

This tornado touched down near Culver, Kansas on June 8, 1998.  At this moment,
the parent storm had two mesocyclones  and the second meso produced a brief
tornado near Niles, Kansas roughly twenty minutes later.

Mesocyclone/Shelf Cloud from Ord, Nebraska, June 29, 1997

Mothership? Jellyfish? Supercell?  This LP supercell in transition floated
over West Texas near Midland on May 28, 1997.  Image is a bit grainy.

I hope you've enjoyed your visit. If you have any comments or any observations (or if you were on any of these storms and want to compare notes), let me know!
