Big Ivory
The commitments have slowed down lately, but you can take one big man off the board after Anthony Ivory committed to Providence.
The 6-9, 298-pound Ivory, who has sat out the summer thus far because of foot injuries, chose the Friars over Seton Hall, Clemson, East Carolina and Charleston.
``I felt comfortable with the whole coaching staff, especially assistant coach Phil (Seymore)," Ivory said from his home in Maryland. "Providence stuck with me through my injuries and they seemed like a real good fit. They play in a big conference and I think I can come in and help them right away."
Ivory, who played at National Christian before finishing up last season at Springbrook (Md.), will likely suit up this year at Southern Maryland Christian and could even spend another year in the prep school ranks before coming to Providence.
``I wanted to commit early even before I got hurt," Ivory added. "I just felt that this was the right time."
Ivory took an unofficial visit to Providence about 10 days ago and is nearly ready to get back onto the court. He will play with Southern Region Explosion (formerly Trinity Ice) at the Super Showcase later this month.
