This Aztec GT story comes all the way from Sweden.
The Aztec built on a 1966 VW Type 3 chassis had been parked in a garage for about 5 years just waiting for a restoration. In November 1999 the car was pushed outside because the owner of the was going to paint the inside of the garage and have a millenium-party in there. "Thats when I saw the car"!, says David. " It stood outside without side-windows for a couple of months until we agreed upon the price. Then the work started! I got a couple of showcars already, so I wanted something to have fun with!! It took 2 months until I got everything running. The previous owner had installed a watercooled 1982 VW Rabbit engine 76bhp engine and I wanted to move the cooler so it wouldn't show. I made 2 holes in the pan and lead the cooling air to come up thru there.... It works fine until you get up to approx 60 mph, then it starts to overheat!!!"
We are sure David will come up with another inventive idea to cool his car down. Never the less, he still has one cool car!
Thanks for sharing it with us.

David would like to know if anyone out there knows about Aztecs (designed in the states during the 60's) that had the body built in Germany?
Our guess is that there was a sub-contracted German garage that imported various Fiberfab kits from the States spacifically to build & sell in the European market.
If you know any info. about Aztec's built in Germany, or have questions/comments about David's car e-mail David Griff
If you have a few pictures of an Aztec GT you'd like to see on the SHOW 'EM OFF page, SEND THEM TO US along with some information about the car.
