Lisa and APHA President, Richard Cox.  It was a pleasure to finally meet this gentleman.  We had bred our mare, Emma, to his daughter and his stallion, Hes Got The Assets.

EQUINE REPRODUCTION SEMINAR
July 15 & 16
McDonald Ranch, LameDeer
Karen Berk clinician
www.frozen-semen.com

This two day intensive seminar covered everything from mare and stallion anatomy to hands on collection of three stallions and checking the mares vaginally.  We also learned about different equipment and the importance of quality.  We evaluated semen using 4 different extenders learning the importance of trying different extenders.  Karen also went into test freezing semen for the McDonalds.  One of the more interesting things I learned was about embryo transfers.

All in all it was not only a very good learning experience but also a chance to meet and network with other horse people interested in furthering their knowledge or refreshing what they already do and learning new technics and technology.

Art and Rita McDonald and their daugther Karla and her husband Terry were terrific hosts.  I think I gained 5 lbs while there with the wonderful food they provided.  Terry BBQ'ed a roast that was to die for!  They have a wonderful program based on the Sugar Bars line.  The foals are all well balanced and easy on the eye!  Please see them at this link:
